How would you react to an E2 who "smart mouths" you in formation?

Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

He wouldn't see liberty for about a week so that he has time to work on his deficiencies. At the least, he would be written up for disrespect and failure to obey a lawful order. Washington Detailers would not give me orders to push Boots because I would be to "hard" on them. These new recruits are too soft, that is the problem with today's Navy.

It seems to me the military has gotten soft with this touchy feely shit. "Praise in public punish in private".. fuck that make an example of this cock sucker to other would be offenders. Smoke this shitbird until his eyes bleed and his heart explodes. "Ask him what's wrong"... I can tell you what's wrong he's a spoiled little mouthy homo that needs to shut his cock holster and do what he's fucking told. People like this get mother fuckers killed in combat. You can't have anyone questioning you during a fucking fire fight, and if they do it in formation over stupid shit they will do it in combat. But hey I'm just a dumb grunt what the fuck do I know?

Wow, as a vet, I would never ever question an order. Although Inmihht complain about it to my peers in private, I realized the importance of military bearing, respect for my superiors, and following orders. We're there to serve!

Grab him by the back of the neck and force him to the floor. Make him stay face down as u hand out other assignments. Walk over and on him now and then. Then stand him up, make him do it but make his day a living hell. If he still disobeys a direct order, march him and yourself to the latrine and give him a very hard slap. Next step is to repeat the process but more severe..

I would become that Private's mommy and daddy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until he/she fully understood what military life and discipline is all about. At the E2 stage, a soldier has only two choices; fulfill the obligations required or request an expeditious discharge for the good of the service.

You pull this E-2 aside and let him know that this is the one and only time you will give him the courteousy of handling the problem in this manner. You ask him what his major malfunction is. If it can be worked out fine. If this happens again you might have to make an example of him in front of the other troops.
