Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

Me: Front leaning rest position, move, E2 Shit-for-brains does not want to follow his order. You will do pushups till I get tired of counting! I can count for a long time, with out tiring. Four count push up position move, one two three four, one, one two three four, two....! Platoon leader, you and the rest of the platoon will need to explain to E2 Shit-for-brains why he will follow orders without hesitation and without question, is that clear? One two three four, twenty,...! If not, they have a fine place to rest at Ft. Leavenworth for E2 Shit-for-brains to fulfill his obligation to Uncle Sam!

Smoke the whole squad. Twice. If one person messes up, you all mess up. The military is not a place for an "Individual". Everything that you do will take some sort of team effort, and that starts from the moment you step off the bus and meet your battle buddy. Point blank, if you are lower ranking then someone, you have no reason to open your mouth unless it's to say "Yes sir", "No sir", or to be kissing ass. I'm not myself in the military, only a JROTC cadet, but even in my school my Colonel and Master Sargent believe in and practice the same. This isn't high school anymore, no one cares about your feelings. You made a decision to be there, so deal with your own problems on your own time.

Hand him or her the Sunday employment ads, inform them the military is not for them and then smash them in the face with a fucking boot. Oh, wait, this is a kinder, gentler, lamer military... uhhhh then escort them to the commander and begin the process of administrative discharge.

Decide they would rather do PT all day and assign them that.

I was a seasoned E4 Specialist, numerous Bradley Gunnerys, Border Tours at OP Alpha and time with Recce Troop Blues and Royals Squadron Her Majesty's Royal Army.... on a early Sat morning aN NCO came into my barracks room woke us up and told us to "look alive, our Country needs you"... i responded "aww come on Sarge its a big Country, cant you find someone else......" not only did he not think my joke was funny he lit me up..... so a shitbird E2 with no time in nothing needs to be severely disciplined!!! especially since he had the balls and disrespect to do it in formation......

Release all except him and take him to the sawdust pit for corrective action. After 15 minutes, it will correct the problem fast.

That's fine son. We'll move that down to your second assignment. Keep it in your pocket. After I dismiss these fine men, your first assignment will be to report with me to the first Sargent to be reassigned. You're outa here.
Turn and ask, anyone else have a problem?

If you are a senior E5 Marine and you don't know what to do...perhaps you should switch jobs with the Grunt

I wish my answer was different, but in this Touchy Feely Damn World were everybody get's butt hurt
over everything, the Rules have unfortunately changed for the worst in my opinion, my first choice would have been to put a boot in there ass and make them pull twice the duty they were given!

Back in my day this would have gotten the E2 a whole world of hurt from the rest of the squad after they all pulled some really nasty duties.

Simple enough, I will see him, his fireteam leader, and squad leader after formation. There will be a new asshole handed out to this new bag of ass, in which he will hold onto until I am finished PTing the old dumbass off of him. Which I'm sure would result in the casualties in this situation will be more than willing to take their turn teaching this young E-2 just how bad life can truly be if that is his wish.

BTW, since this person is just E-2, clean Barracks, forgot Basics Training & AIT, ethics, needs a re-fresher course; nothing he or she hasn't had before.

Calmly, have your write up; and information enfront of your platoon SGT E-6; if available, or the next NCOIC.

Available; next jobs; Battalion - Lawn, KP, once you speak to your Chain of Command; to see if this available.

at that point he is directly refusing an order from an NCO and I would in your position, (which i'm not i'm just a dumb E2 with less than a year in) either smoke the dog pi** out of him or hit him with a negative counseling depending on how many times he has done this. At least that is what it would be like here.

It happened a few times. My main response was to ask what was the main problem, did you misunderstand or do you just not want to? A few times I actually got an honest answer of "I don't want to and you can't make me".... I smiled a little smile and very softly answered....."You're right smooth....I can't MAKE you do anything. But......(face closer)....I can damn sure make you wish you HAD! Five seconds, your choice.....NOW!

First, pvt Shitbird would be pushing until he reached China, after his Article 15 he'd be on every shit detail I could find, I'd be his nemesis for as long as he was assigned to be.
