Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

you as an NCO escort this individual with the company of another (e.g. lower enlisted e-2 -e-4 or another e-5) and you smoke the living crap out of this individual until this individual understands that individuallity stopped upon enlistment and team worked began. But that is just me, you do as your style and leadership allow

Everyone on their face. Push till I get tired. When that happens and the arms are falling off of the trainees, make that private do the aforementioned task. Everyone else will "train" that guy when the time is right.

First and foremost, they are not fit for military life. You came to the Military, it didn't come to you. Conform and do what you are told to do. Its to bad if there are young soldiers that would even remotely think of responding in this fashion. There just isn't room in this Military for people like this. The military needs good men and women willing to serve.

He would get smoked, complete the task assigned and then face charges.

In my humble opinion the shitbird would be working till he found the errors in his/her ways. I would also be evaluating my own presence and why said shitbird would ever consider such a responce. Prior response stated that their could be external issues unknown to LPO, maybe LPO isnt as aprochable as they should be or not paying attention to his/her charges. Leadership swings both ways.
