No. It's called motivation. And it will evolve into discipline. Keep that alive during entire military career and you will go on to do great things. It's what separates the wheat from the chaff.

Not at all! Man I could not wait to get there and get started! It’s the beginning of something really special, something few have the courage to do, something that has little to no recognition, but something that is so fulfilling that I could not begin to describe how.

Keep your head on straight, don’t get rattled, do what your told, ask questions, and work longer and harder than anyone else to improve in every aspect.

There isn't anything weird about being excited, its the first step on starting Your military service., why wouldn't You be excited ? There are things to learn and it will be over before You know it anyway and then as each step progresses You will feel more and more of the achievement.
