We have a new 1SG and new commander. The 1SG noticed one day that only 5 people in the whole company showed up to PT. Now he put out to all the platoon Sergeants that everyone must show up to PT at either the 0530 formation or the 1600 formation.

However, my section is the only one in the hospital that has a 1600-0000 shift. I am being told by my first line that the 1SG says that I have to be at the morning formation, no exceptions.

I don’t want to sound like I’m whining but at the same time it’s unfortunate that I have to explain to myself as to why this isn’t right.

As a junior enlisted I do feel stuck.

How do I bring this issue up and solve this effectively and professionally?
Also: Do you know of any Army Regulations that can support anything?

Ask your platoon sergeant to bring this up. Please don't play barracks lawyer and try to find some regulation to get you out of the PT formation. Your schedule is difficult, I agree.

I remember I had to do a week's worth of Exercises and we worked 16 hours a day for a week straight. We had PT 3 times a week at 0530 and we also got home at midnight, give or take. We started at 0800 at got done at midnight. FOR SEVEN! DAYS! STRAIGHT! From it I learned how to function on 4 hours sleep. In the end, it all paid off.
Unless you're part of the surgical crew or something where you need to be very steady with your hands, you're gonna have to suck it up. There's a LOT of things we take for granted as civilians but the experience in the military pays off for it in the long run. Only way I can see that changing is if more people show up for the original PT time.

Command are only required to give 4 hours of sleep. It is rough but why do you think we are held in such high regard in civilian jobs. We do what must be done at all times. Best I can advise in this is to find someone to vent to on your personal time. As for legally they are within ucmj regs.

The problem isn’t so much the PT formation, it’s the time your shift is ending. What you really should do is lobby for a shift change that is centric to a 0545 formation.

Or just switch to day or night shift if you want to get out of PT. A good SPC shouldn’t need to ask rally point for a good way to sham.

You "solve" it by going to PT formation as you were told
