Currently in korea looking to redeploy before too long. Been on station 7+ years and they already have deleted my orders once in order to retain me for deployment.

I am also with 1st CAV in Korea. They cannot delete your orders for recruiting. To do so would take actions many echelons above Division.

CSM Durand, I am current not experiencing the same issue. However I will contact you if I do. I am positive that your insight would be beneficial in understanding the Brigade's intent.

I came down DA Select for recruiting, but Brigade is trying to fence me in for a Korea rotation before my school date. How do I avoid this?

I was fenced 3BCT 4ID with a BDE position. USAREC is god. If your already select.... Might as well accept the inevitable.... WECOME TO USAREC!!

BTW its not atall bad here. Lots of self development oportunities.

Suck it up. What USAREC wants, USAREC gets. Hated it. Loved being in Armor front line units and getting dirty. Hated being behind a desk on a phone or talking to silver spoon fed kids.

SSG (Join to see) USAREC is priority. 3 years DA select recruiter will not be deleted. I was with a SSG had a WO selection still did his recruiting time.

DA is gonna get what DA wants. That's what usually happens and it either happens the easy way or the hard way.

BLACKJACK is known for giving soldiers the shaft. Luckily neither BLACKJACK or First Team are bigger than DA.

Most likely the fence well be denied. Recruiting trumps everything including deployment. If you want more information about it, contact your branch manager at HRC and stress your desire to be a recruiter or you can contact the Recruiter and Retention School. Their numbers are at the recruit the recruiter website

Having been the one that determined how many recruiters were needed, did the screening, and sent out the Recruiting Duty notification... you will most likely be going.

And so that everyone else knows how the selection is done (I really don't expect that it has changed much, if any, since I was doing it):
1. It is determined (formula and statistically driven)how many recruiters are needed in the upcoming months/years
2. Each Branch is given a "mission" to provide a certain amount soldiers
3. Each Branch selects who they want to provide (not USAREC)
4. Records are screened to insure qualifications and individual notifications sent
5. Personal information is received from each candidate and final determinations of qualifications are made
6. Candidates attend Army Recruiting Course (ARC)

This is a very simplified sequence and it really is a great deal more complicated and intricate but the best thing to know is that your branch is the one that selected you for Recruiting or Drill duty. They know what orders they are taking you off of or the status of your unit before submitting your name.
