I love being a soldier. I love the job I do. But deep down I know I can do a lot more than what I'm doing. I don't know any PBOs that are Warrant Officers so I haven't gotten any advice on it. I'm even considering being a pilot. I just know that being enlisted isn't the way for me.

Know everything there is to know about your MOS. Go to every school related to your MOS. Be the "go to guy" when someone has a question. Be a leader. All too often the Army is allowing Soldiers to become WO’s before they are ready – don’t be that guy.

Take your time you are still young in rank. See what is like to be a NCO preferably SFC...I transitioned over at SFC and never looked back but some of my greatest and fondest memories were that as a SR. NCO. Strong NCO equals Strong Warrant!!! Good Luck!

The best advice I give to young troops wanting to become Warrant Officers..."stay out of trouble." Stay on the right path, get good marks on your NCOERs, and you'll be fine.

I would love to know the "why" on why you think enlisted is not for you, and what you think being a warrant officer is about? I cannot accurately give advice if I do not have the context of your perceptions.

SGT(P) (Join to see) Do not take this as being critical. You say that you love being a solder, and your job..but know that being enlisted is not the way.
I would ask you to think about why that is.
Is it just because you want more responsibility? Is it because you feel that you are treated like bottom of the food chain? Because that view changes rapidly. And good leaders remember how good leaders took care of troops.
I think it is great to strive for advancement and responsibility. Chase it. Seek out your full potential.
The only guaranteed way to be told no, is not to ask.
But know this, the job of the enlisted, is different than the WO and that is different from the O.

Good luck.

Wow - " juggernaut NCO"? Well - I don't know about that! :-)
I would say it seems as if your "deep down" is telling you something - and I'd listen to it if I were you! At one point early in my career, I too had an inkling to be an officer in the AF - I did apply and the application went nowhere - and looking back, it seems it was all part of HIS plan! So, with that said, go for it - you will find out soon enough. Just remember that your plans may not be His plans and it's always better to go with HIS plan in the end! Good luck!

It follows my one least idiot rule, same rule I apply at traffic lights, I always take the shortest line because then I am behind one least idiot. Same with making rank and getting a commission it lowers the probability of working for an idiot. Here is a pictorial illustration of a less than intelligent driver. The would be the guy in the McLaren, I was not behind him for long.

I suggest you study for the FAST test and research the various missions of the helicopter before you talk to WO's.
