I feel so proud when I hear " the Star Spangled Banner" I think of all those brave women, and men that sacrificed sooo much. What do you think of when you hear that AWSOME song?

Great thread, Danny. I am with you 100%. I also relate this pride in our Nation to what the POW's in Vietnam had to contend with. There were accounts of them making an illegal American Flag and hiding it from their captors. The red stripes were made by dyeing the cloth using the blood from the POW's themselves. It's time to watch the Hanoi Hilton again today....followed by Hart's War.

PO2 (Join to see) , CW5 (Join to see) I can assure both of you that you are not alone. Each time I hear the Star Spangled Banner I brace and salute. Each time, tears are brought to my eyes when I think of the men/women I have served with who no longer have the ability to render honors. In my minds eye I am saluting not only for myself, but also in their honor.

The Star Spangled Banner brings tears to my eyes and gives me goosebumps, especially when sung by a Service Member. A flood of memories comes back all at once.

PO2 (Join to see), I feel the same way. In fact, it brings tears to my eyes many times I hear it. I think serving in the military adds a certain something to the patriotism that a person feels.

It makes my heart swell every time I hear it. I heard it on Veterans Day by the Zac Brown Band and it gave me goosebumps

It is soo refreshing to still find folks who feel as I do. I have two adult girls, 25, 26. They don't understand how I grew up. I remember hand at heart pledging to our great flag when I was a wee lad in Portland, Oregon. It was not taught to me by my parents, it was having family in the military as far back as The Revolutionary War, then joining the military. I am soo blessed to know the brave men, and women in the military.

A memorial to our bravest US military.
Amazing Grace is another timeless pride filled melody that brings pride to us all as well. During OIF 2 - OIF 4 our BDE CSM played the bagpipes during each memorial ceremony for our fallen from 1-1 AD

I'm ruined from Amazing Grace on the pipes. Too many years in the CAV. Too many fallen. It is a glorious song too. I wish it wasn't so.

I always seem to get something bothersome in my eyes, always. I love it. If that music does not, as a member of the military make you proud and trigger memories and patriotic thoughts, you are not still breathing!

The National Anthem, Amazing Grace - especially on the bagpipes, The Battle Hymn of the Republic and Taps are the 4 songs sure to make my chest thump and eyes water. Great post!

Toronto Maple Leafs fans finish singing US anthem after technical difficulties
November 18, 2014, leafs vs nashville predators. The mic cut out partway through the us national anthem and the Canadian fans took it from there! I happened ...
Even some Canadians will sing the USA's national anthem when the microphone stops working. It gave me goose bumps when the crowd took up the song.
