I have been in the Army Reserve since 2009. And in the 5 years that I have been in I have never once been to an Annual Training. Isn't the unit I'm attached to required to have an AT for me? What do you think?

In the navy you are required to perform a AT if you do not perform at least three in a four year period you are automatically put into the IRR.

What was your reserve agreement when you signed up? Are you assigned to a unit with inactive status, as a member of a control group, or a member of a reserve MOS pool with a critical skill?

Suggest you contact the US Army Reserve personnel offiice that holds your records and ask them " how do I join a unit"?

If you make the scheduled drills you can still have enough points to have a good year without attending annual training although the units that I've been in have all had annual training with the exception of post deployment

You can also do individual Year round AT. We used to do this on years where we didn't have a major training event. You could attend an MOS or other school in AT status to get the points. Other times we could come in for days here and there to prep for weekends or inspections, update TACSOPS, etc. as long as we were working towards a unit goal.

I dont know how the Army does reserves but the Air Force if you do any technical schools or pme training during your "year" it counts toward your points for a good year.

Just an update. I went to my first AT in March and I have 5 "good" years due to performance of military funerals, BCT, and AIT

Youve been in since 2009 and are just now asking these questions? Your commando should have done a better job of communication what your requirements are. I know I'm required to do one every year

I was in the Army National Guard in 79-81 and did a unit AT (Camp McCoy)and the Air National Guard in 81-83 where I did a unit AT (Gulfport) and an individual AT at my unit. Probably depends on your unit's mission. When I was in the Navy Reserve, I did individual AT's at CONUS and OCONUS commands, unit AT for required training evolutions, and at the command my unit was attached to.

I agree with SSG Slover you have to be doing something to receive the proper MUTA 's
or you basically have wasted 5 years time you also should be receiving a points breakdown every year as well check those and see if you are doing okay o. Points

AT is a requirement if you are in the active (as apposed to inactive) guard or reserves. You can do it by yourself on orders or with your unit. You do have to do it though.
