I need ideas! I'm taking Command soon of Banshee Company (tank), 1-37 AR, 2/1 AD at Ft. Bliss, and I learned the Soldiers really don't like the name. I have the opportunity to change it, but it has to be something unique because it must be different from any other "B" Company in III Corps. I need ideas! Thanks!

I'm also not a fan of "Bulldog" as a callsign. I remember "Battle Company" being used in COL Hackworth's book Steel my Soldier's Hearts. My current BN has a Blackfoot Company. You could always go somewhere completely different. A previous BN I served in had a B CO callsign of "Outlaw."

I have to ask now that this discussion is about 1 month old MAJ (Join to see), what was the end result? Has the company settled on a new name?

MAJ (Join to see) - That's a great logo. My company went through the same sort of exercise in 2006 while in Iraq. The XO ended up taking the logo and making a pretty nice coin that we all got.

I think it speaks volumes for you and other commanders that take the time to do this type of thing to help build esprit de corp.

ThanksSGT Ben Keen - That's really the goal. There didn't seem to be much pride in the name when I showed up. I want to change that. Soldiers should be proud of their Company and higher HQ!

MAJ (Join to see) - I fully agree with you on that. I think having pride in your unit results in better mission success because in the back of everyone's mind is that feeling that you don't want to let your brothers and unit down. I think that is why I am honored to say I served with the 101st Airborne Division. The history of the unit and knowing my grandfather wore the same patch on D-Day pushed me to better myself. I wish you all the best of luck in your new command.
