I miss flying on goggles, NVGs. What do you miss from your military occupation?

The men and women who I flew and worked with. We had a purpose and that purpose was us all going in the same direction. Flying was Icing on the cake. NVG or Flir or Night hawk. The people involved in the mission are and will be what I miss the most.

I miss the small boats. I loved leaving the ship I was on and taking the RHI-CB out in the middle of no where. That was my morale. Granted I was in the CG so as Coxswain, it truly was my boat.

I didn't get to do it for long, but I miss precision approaches to mins, working to back up the pilot, and not having to bingo. Then, despite bad weather, braking well enough not to have to trap in the overrun gear.

I miss being a JO on the bridge at night, having the deck or conn, and navigating the ship with only a brother JO and our watch team. The ship and crew are safe, because we have the watch. The Old Man is safe in his cabin, quietly out of touch.

I miss the Air Force. I do not neccessarily miss being a Surgical Technician! It was interesting but at this point in life I've burned out of medicine. I still love it as a topic. I'm just not as interested in doing it anymore. I really do miss the military though.

I miss doing hot pump/crew swaps at night. Especially as a PC. I always looked forward to those night evolution at home guard in the, then, HSL community. GO VIPERS!!!
