I was tasked to send one Soldier to setup a VSAT in a foreign country. The Soldier cannot get the VSAT to come online. The system keeps giving him the error "xponder has failed" has anyone seen this error and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks.

If the Soldier is in Europe, the Soldier may need to switch the LNB included to one which receives on the Euro spot beam. This would also likely require a change in option file if searching for these transponders is not programmed into the ACU's search pattern. CONUS, Europe, and Asia all have different satellites to use. Which network are you trying to access?

What kind of VSAT? Is it one of the L3 Hawkeye Lite III dishes deployed as a part of the CAISI/VSAT system to support logistics in the field?

Same here, would need to know more as to what kind of node this is before troubleshooting. When in doubt call SPAWAR for internal issues or GNCC for SAT issues.

The answers to some of these questions may lean into FOUO. Is there a reasonably secure way for us to exchange Enterprise Email addresses?

I would like to say thank you for all the responses that I received regarding help with solving my VSAT issue. My Soldier manage to figure out the problem. It was something with the of phyiscal layer of troublshooting. It is truly cool to know if I needed any help with a Automation/Commo question all you guys are out there ready and willing to support thanks again.

SGT Willey is spot on. To add, if you they were using a training option file it will probably need to change. The SAT OPs here at SOCOM can help acquire if problems still exist. Send me a PM if you need the number...
