This past year I have been putting together a packet for the Army’s SWIP (Social Work Internship Program). On 05/22/20 I found out that I was put on the OML . Does anyone know what OML refers to and if it is a good or bad thing? Thank You

I was on the order or merit list previously. Means they have filled all mission slots for the fiscal year. So you are qualified and pass boarding and they want you, but there is not a slot for you at this time. Sometimes people drop out, screw up (DUI, failed security clearance etc.) and then they fill that slot by pulling someone off the OML. Also the other option is if they add more slots this fiscal year they would pull another candidate off the OML. The other option is you wait until the next fiscal year and then they pull you off the OML and give you a slot.

I got a call from an individual today that was sent by way of Ft Knox to conduct my Security Clearance over the phone during the time my recruiter had texted me that I was on OML. So that gave me a little hope

Good luck! Hang in there! I spent almost a year on the OML and then had to board a second time, but I eventually was offered a commission. CPL Corinthian Winton

An OML is an Order of Merit List. It shows how you rank in comparison to your peers. Being on the list is neither good nor bad. Where you rank on the list is the thing that can be good or bad.
