To be clear, I'm not Anti Vax but I'm also not vaccinated. With all the immunizations and drugs the government has given us like anthrax, smallpox, doxycycline, mefloquine..etc. service members and Veterans are still concerned about the COVID-19 vaccine. Even after the FDA approved Pfizer, I was not planning on receiving the vaccine and would not have gotten it without being forced by the Military. Now that the pentagon mandated it, I obviously have no choice. I’m curious to hear other veteran/service members opinions are?

I have received both shots as soon as they became available at the drug stores. (VA was overwhelmed) I also still wear my mask to help protect not only myself but others as well. For me, it is a health issue and not a political issue as it should be.

I had no hesitation in taking the vaccine. Although there is a belief that the vaccine is something new, it is not. Coronaviruses have been around April 1930. Researchers and scientists have constantly been researching various vaccines to combat it ever since. The COVID 19 vaccine underwent testing among a large group of human volunteers, even more than a typical trial with over 30,000 to 60,000 people. So in my mind, it is a very safe and effective means of combating the COVID 19 virus. Every vaccine ever developed has had side effects, some people have adverse reactions, and so on. I look at the history of vaccines and in my mind the reason that life expectancy for men in the USA has gone from 50 years if you were born in 1900 to 80 years if you were born in 2020. Just a look back at history of vaccinations, one of the founding fathers, George Washington, in 1777 ordered all the troops to be inoculated against smallpox even though there was no presedent for doing so. With very few doctors and even fewer medical supplies, and on top of that, no experience, Washington conducted the first mass inoculation of an Army, in his mind smallpox would wipe out his army before the British would if he didn't do something, he was 100% correct.

SGT Andrew Anderson wow. I was going to reply with a kind and congenial retort until that last little disrespectful barb. You go on believing what the CDC puts out. They are 100% altruistic, and in no way agenda driven. Good luck with your blind faith. There’s only one situation in which I have seen that work out for anyone… and it isn’t with medicine or the government. Sincerely, someone with decades experience in both.

SGT Andrew Anderson you need some work in the military bearing department. I see that even in a military board, the relative anonymity of the internet really does bring out the worst in people. It is a sad commentary on where our military and society as a whole have sunk to.

CDR (Join to see) Why would you consider that disrespectful? You were the who said you were “practising”? I was always taught to keep practising until I get it right! Sorry if you can't take a little “jab” which was meant as sarcasm, not disrespect. Just wanted to “inject” a little humor into the conversation. Sorry you didn't get it!

SGT Andrew Anderson my apologies. This has been such an emotionally and politically charged topic that perhaps I was sensitive. I do try to conduct myself in a very careful and considerate way on these things simply because it is so easy to be misconstrued. Everyone is an expert and no one wants to engage in conversation. I truly am sorry. My point with the gene therapy is that the mRNA teaches our DNA to create the spike proteins of the coronavirus and then our immune system reacts to those proteins, creating antibodies. Personally, I am not interested in having my DNA trained. I am not anti Covid vaccine. I have recommended it fir certain family members… but not for others. This is not a one size fits all plan. That’s all.

SPC Lyle Montgomery - There are apparently a great many fools out there that decided to protect themselves, their families, and their loved ones, as opposed to those who decided not to be fooled and are now dying at a rate of 15 times that of the vaccinated as well spreading the virus to anyone they come in contact with.. Can you explain your comment, why do you think those who got the vaccine are fools? Is it just an opinion or is it based on some knowledge you have that we fools do not? Thanks

I received both doses of Moderna in March--with NO side effects! The emergency authorization by the FDA was all I needed to make the decision to get vaccinated. I believe in scientists, not politicians. When I look at the areas where the virus is running rampant, it is apparent that those are the areas where people are not getting vaccinated. I'm glad that I did!

I will not get that vaccine. I do not trust it. I sure the Hell do not trust That jack ass Fouche. It is all about the power not the Since.
The government has said so many thing's about covid , And who and how people get Covid.
And how people can protect themselves.
Then their is my favorite one if you get the Vaccine you will not get sick.
That has been working real good for the people that received the Vaccine then got sick and, Those that have died after getting the vaccine.

SFC Randy Hellenbrand - What's your correlation? President Trump may have started the Warp Speed, and even promoted the vaccine. But even he said free choice and unlike Pres Biden and the Dems, conservatives don't think he's infallible.

He did say your it is the individual's choice.

Part of Operational Readiness is vaccinations. If you get sick while deployed and your unit has to replace you, the entire unit suffers (assuming you were worth bringing) Anyone who doesn't get the shot doesn't give a shit about the unit or it's mission
