We were told that beginning Friday, immigrant (illegal or otherwise) will be housed in an unused Basic Training Starship barracks, with a chain link fence put up to keep them in here on Fort Sill. Anyone else out there told the same on other military post, bases, ports, etc?

anything wtong with the thousands of homeless disabled veterans having a place to sleep. in Los Angeles which has the highest amount of homeless veterans an ex-senator in something the late 1800s gave the VA something like 300 acres to build housing so American veterans would never be homeless. well someone there in the VA decided that wasn't a good use for it but rents parts of it out to place like UCLA for their baseball teams field, the laundry for the merriot hotels in the are, a rental car company to name a few. according to the article in American legion magazine. you can look it up and get most of the article from the mag in an article called betrayed. anyways accounting has been really lax in this situation and it has been found most of the rent money is pretty well unaccountable. it has even went so far that veteran groups have earned a ruling from federal courts that says renting the land is illegal. unfortunately UCLA and the VA there have it stalled in court saying that if they take the ball field the team will be homeless. shame shame shame.

I second that motion we have too many vets sleeping on the streets, and dying from lack of piss poor help from Veteran Affairs. They should be the one's using any military barracks. Hell they were the ones who sacrificed something more than just fleeing some wild animals too haul ass here to get free living. Like the tax payers of this great nation doesn't pay enough all ready for people, lets just add some more on top of a already struggling country!

I was at the Former FT. Devens in 1999 and the barracks were full of homeless people. Funny thing is that there were active MP's still patrolling a de-activated base. Weird.

LOL, I figured that our Liberal friends couldn't argue that source down. It's pretty bad when MSNBC propagandists are saying the same thing about the camps.

Well, here are more specifics, detailed in the link to the article below. Fort Sill appears to be the third base hit with this.

I didn't hear anything, but it is don't make sense. I guess it is okay for Congress to force our military personnel out of the service to "so-called" saving money. I know money isn't saved at all it is only an excuse for under table agenda's. How long will politicians continue to deceive the middle and lower class citizens? It is our tax money they are gambling with garbage ideas.

I wonder if this means they will be fed as well... and which budget will that come out of. Sure hope none of this is at cost to DOD!.

I'm sure it's federal funding.. but out of whose pot is the question. DoD is facing enough of a budget battle to begin with.

Meh...give them MREs that are getting ready to expire and be rotated out of stock and destroyed. They were going to be wasted anyways, might as well have someone eat them....

Quantico has a barracks with a full fence and guards already, but can't house very many with all the max security folks there already.
Most brigs and military prisons look nice from the outside, but my "tour" there was down right intimidating as a butter bar, one month active, and officer of the day for the base... what were they thinking?
Using training barracks would be a good use of excess space, as long as it is really excess. Good training for MP's and the propaganda patrol- the civil service psycho types that work with the civilians in foreign engagements..... and new cooks and bakers to perfect their craft in multi-cultural dining hall operations. (OK a camp kitchen inside the wire)...
Would need to separate the refugees who would be staying until they can be shipped "home", from the Camp to home at the end of hostilities.

We should be caring for our homeless veterans before we care for those who have violated our laws and are here illegally. There are better ways to spend money. Caring for our homeless or otherwise underserved veterans is paramount.

When the tens of thousands of children and mothers came across the border last summer from Nicaragua and other countries down south of Mexico, they put thousands of them on Lackland A.F.B...put up chain linked fences and used a whole bunch of dormitories that had been shut down and not used for years....It's bad enough we have to use our hard earned tax dollars to house these illegals....but Hispanic congressmen, councilmen and some others had the audacity to complain about the living quarters and situation given to these illegals....here we were feeding them, putting a roof over their heads, clothing them and checking them out medically.....that wasn't good enough for the Hispanic community here. made me sick to my stomach. ....and as far as I know...NONE of these folks have been deported thanks to Obama.
What I want to know is why don't we do this for our HOMELESS??? for the people living on the streets...under bridges, in ditches...who are AMERICAN CITIZENS?!?!?!

This is a very sore subject with me.

Why do we always attack the little guy?  We look like haters and that is the purpose behind allowing immigrants flooding into this country.  Only the American Indian is not a transplant.  People come because of jobs.  Place big fines on corporations who encourage illegals.  Leave the little guy out of it, we all want to survive, I get it.  Hit their pockets the same way big tobacco got it and I guarantee you the problem gets fixed.  Let's look at things from the right perspective.

why do you consider this an attack on the little guy? why are we the only country who takes in all of these people. Why does my hard earned money have to pay to house these people, feed and cloth them? Why did my great grandparents from Germany and my mother and several of her siblings and other family members from Japan come here LEGALLY...yes the operative word is LEGALLY and work their way to EARNING their citizenship?!?!? We have MILLIONS of homeless people here that do not get help...they are the TRUE little guys...they are citizens of the US, yet these people come here and we feed and cloth and house them, but we do not take care of our own?!?!? There are THOUSANDS of VETS living in the streets...these are the people ...THE LITTLE GUYS we should be protecting, caring for and looking after first.

I know they put a large group up in Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme a few months ago, I think it was kept under the radar so to speak because no one really knew they were there until some people started to complain about all the kids fenced in. I do not believe though that they were being housed in any of the old barracks, I think it was an old common use building or two. I did not bother to check it out myself.
