There is a bill that could cover all three H.R 969. It currently cover Vietnam veterans and Agent Orange, but we are fighting to Gulf war and open burn pit Veterans. But as I said as before we are going to have to battle for the inclusion of the Gulf war and open burn pit Veterans. Because the department of the Army is currently refusing to recognize both groups. Therefore the Congress is only recognizing Vietnam veterans. But that means that the VA is not legally able to pay disability pay for the to outstanding groups. However the department of Army has approved medical care for both groups. So if you are among the Gulf war veterans or burn pit Veterans you have to register at your local VA office. And if you want to help push the amendments to add Gulf war and open burn pit Veterans to HR 969 you can write your Congressman. And remember to E-mail your Senators on the American Heroes COLA Act and the three amendments that we are pushing. Check my earlier post to get more information about HR 677.

I am currently being treated for Constrictive Bronchiolitis Obliterans with interstitial fibrosis. I also have chronic fatigue, sleep apnea and fibromyalgia, along with a host of other issues.

These have been linked to my last tour in Iraq.

There is research ongoing, but I have found that a local research hospital and university, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, started a research into new treatments for Persian Gulf Illnesses, or Gulf War Syndrome.

I'm going to try to participate.

It is extremely important if you or any of your soldiers/veterans have any of the symptoms, the get scheduled for a Persian Gulf Registry exam at your VA.

If they say they have never heard of it, feel free to contact me here and I can get you/them the information needed to get an appointment.

SGT Michael Thorin - Spring 09-10. Had bad allergies over there, have noticed that my seasonal bouts get bad fast but may be unrelated. Unless exposures to certain things over there have made me more sensitive

SSgt (Join to see) - Could definitely be.

The biggest problem currently is that the tentative closing date for Gulf War vets to have the Gulf War physical to maintain the ability to file a disability claim should they need to is December of this year.

However, they may extend this again.

Still, on the safer side, if at least get the physical done.

Does it cost money? Yes, Then probably not. Can't be giving those Soldiers, Sailors Airmen and Marines "Handouts" They may become dependent *SARCASM MUCH*.

This has been an ongoing battle. And pretty much a long list of many fighting this battle.

http://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/wars-operations/iraq-war.asp

Get on the list and keep fighting. Eventually it will have to be looked into deeper.
I know many with symptoms and they are still fighting, even if it's not resolved in their time.

HR 969 has unanimous support. We are fighting to get the Gulf War and open burn pit veterans included. The bill comes up for discussion in the house committee mid next month. It should hit the floor by the end of next month.

One hopes that the GWOT vets won't have to wait as long as the Viet Nam vets did for the government to address the problem.

Has the government finally released the truth about the chemical agents that were destroyed in Iraq 1991? I received a letter years ago about it, but so far nothing is or has been done. There are still people having major problems still.
Has there been any acknowledgement of the radioactive material that is present in one of the housing areas on Bagram?

Yes the VA has but it's the department of the Army that is dragging their feet on the exposure.

Finding a way to pay for those of us that are having problems can come from the billions in foreign aid to countries who do not like us. Or quit funding nonsensical research on the effects of nicotine on worms or something like that. Sell off some of the federal land that's not being used for anything.

Well that is not going to happen, because they are trying to cut social security benefits to give more tax cuts.

I suspect that when (if) Congress gets around to doing anything, it will unravel as soon as they start trying to figure out how to pay for it.

Support for the bill is unanimous now , but the fight is to include the Gulf War, Iraqi War, and Afghan war veterans.
