I recently had a job interview and the gentleman I spoke to is in the Marine Corps Reserves. He asked if I thought about joining the reserves. I told him I have a VA disability rating I do not think I can. He then said one of his SSGT has a VA rating and in the reserves. Is this possible?

I've known a number of people in the Guard that have had ratings. They've had to report their drill days, AT, deployments, etc. and that many days was docked from their VA check.

Possible -Yes- Going to Happen-??? It depends on the rating %, what it covers and what MOS you are looking in to. Go talk ti the Reserve recruiter, as this stuff seems to change weekly.
