Is it possible to move over to a state or country, serve in that place in the reserves, while your MOS is not available in that place?

Hey guys, SPC Torres here. I am currently in the IRR and have been looking into serving in the reserves. My plan is to reclass and move to Germany. The MOS which I am interested in reclassing into is currently not available in Germany and there's no current reserve unit for it in said country. Would I still be able to serve under a different unit in the country since the MOS falls under the Intelligence command and there are intel MOSs currently available in the country?

You have to contact that element in germany and ask them yourself. The RC is able to substitute some MOS's within the same CMF.
Also, you can't reclass and move to Germany, you'll need to move to Germany then reclass. The unit in germany may not be willing to pay for anyone to reclass. Or you can join a unit locally, wait until you go to reclass school, then move. That may take a year or two.
I'm sure you already know this, but just in case, you can't move to Germany under the reserves. You'll need to obtain a visa and gainful civilian employment in order to be eligible to move there, be a resident, and serve in the USAR there.

SFC (Join to see) - I think that depends on what he wants. If he wants to go back TPU, then they will. I have never known the Reserve in Germany to turn down a body. Many of the members are spouses of AD personnel, so sometimes the turn over is there as AD personnel rotate back. When I transfered to the 7th ARCOM, I contacted them before I moved. I was told they could do nothing for me until I had physically moved to Denmark, then they went out of their way to get me a slot. That part I don't think has changed.

SGM Mikel Dawson I'm sure they would be willing to help, if he was willing to reclass into an MOS they have, or even keep his own. But he's asking to reclass into an MOS they don't have and fill a slot there. I can't see any unit getting approval to send a Soldier to reclass for an Intel MOS - many of which are PCS length - when the unit doesn't have authorizations for that MOS.

SFC (Join to see) - I remember a soldier I served with, a Major who got an IRR position at NATO HQ. He had a civilian position there and it fit in perfect with an IRR position. One thing he could do is check with the Reserve Officer attached to The U.S. Army Europe and Africa Command in Wiesbaden, usually in the G3 section. Also sometimes these obscure assignments are tucked in the Reserve site, but I am guessinging he needs a CAC card or what ever to log in. I found Europe is a "strange dog" and has sometime these special assignments or places, you just got to know who to talk to. But I retired in 06, so things have probably changed since then.

Yes, there is an Army Reserve Command , HQ in K-town. It is a lot different today than when I was in. I was stationed in Berlin, Heidelberg, Weisdaden, Hanau, Mannheim. Deployed 3 times. At that time the Reserve units were directly attached to Active Duty units, we were considered forward deployed units. There were also lots of oppertunities to work with NATO countries as well. Go to the link, all the contact information is there. I moved to Denmark, finished my time with the Army Reserve in Germany. https://www.usar.army.mil/Commands/Geographic/7th-MSC/7th-MSC-Units/
