Im doing this pole in reference to another question since it can't be added to it after the fact. No response is necessary if you don't want to, just trying to take the survey. If you'd like to comment you can go to this thread as well. https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/displaying-the-confederate-flag-on-your-pov-or-person-while-on-a-military-installation

I doubt that a whole lot of Americans think about it one way or the other, except for the vocal minority of folks that go around looking to be offended. I do not.

This country has one flag and if you choose to put that Conf flag up and don't have our countries flag flying above it then you lost my respect maybe I'm wrong but IDC this country has 1 flag and that's the flag we as vets should be flying but that's my opinion it's our freedom to do otherwise even if it pisses people like me off

Although I understand the historical significance and pride of southerners, I also understand that for many this symbolizes a very sad time in our nation's history. Because of the connection to slavery and the perception that this is a pro-slavery symbol, I think it's mostly considered offensive.

It isn't view in the historical perspective as it should be and then again some people use it inappropriately.

It all depends on the personality of the 'person' flying it
the flag is ok... kinda like flying the flag your favorite team that was in last place. hahahahahahahahahaha oh slavery

No less a Confederate icon than Robert E. Lee opposed slavery. There was also Irish-born Confederate general Patrick Cleburne, who advocated freeing the slaves to fight for the South.

It is the flag of Democrats, so that makes it bad

@Marshall: "Democrats are the ones helping the American people." Um yeah, by taxing them to death, seizing their rightfully-owned guns, destroying the free speech rights via Political Correctness, and keeping them dependent on the NEW modern-day plantation, i.e. the welfare state.

More like the modern-day Democrats are STILL the party of slavery, only this time via the economic "plantation" of the welfare state.
And for the sale of being "fair and balanced" (to borrow a Fox News catchphrase) the GOP has sadly in many ways become a Democrat Lite party when it comes to Big Government statism and thievery.
Hence my decision to switch to the Libertarian Party back in 2012.

Wow, really, 1LT L S , REALLY? WTF, seriously? You're equating Jim Bowie with the Taliban? I suppose, by that rationale, since our Founding Fathers, the framers of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution alike were slaveowners, they were all evil people unworthy of celebration, and I suppose we shouldn't celebrate either those men or our Independence Day, due to the latter's "racist" foundations? Give me a bleepin' break.

And if you think that Corporate Thievery and Government Thievery are somehow mutually exclusive, then wow, you truly are blind and/or ignorant. If you want to continue to hide your heads in the sands about the evils and ever-encroaching powers of statism and Leviathan government, go right ahead. I have better things to do with my time than waste it trying to help anti-capitalist 99%er mouthpieces like you wake up to reality. Good day.
