I got out of active and a year later decided to try the reserves. They are not helping with my disabilities from active and want me to take a pt test. I talked to the unit administrator and about getting out because of this and work making it difficult to get the time off as reasons. She said I would have to start a med board but refused to send me anything to get started for that. Overall is there a way I can bypass my unit with a packet or can I just stop showing up? Will they change my honorable discharge to and dishonorable if I stop reporting?

I'll echo what everyone else is saying...keep showing up to drill. In my reserve unit, my buddy (an E-6) was going through medical stuff and nothing was getting solved. He stopped showing up and changed his number. He was put out with a general discharge and lost some benefits he had earned from his active-duty time.

and what I mean by that above is.. you cannot lose active duty benefits (if you received an honorable) during reserve time if you get a general or OTH discharge. it will only effect your reserves time. they cannot go back to the active duty time and take anything away.

If you are put out for UNSAT (9 U's) it depends on the unit, did you receive any bonus money etc. They can go to the IRS if DFAS wants and collect, why are they holding up a MED board, question is why did you not MED Board while on active??

I would start with a letter from my family doctor listing my medical issues. Take that to the military doctor and get your medical profile. In the Air Force you have to be deployable and you can't deploy if you are on an extended medical profile, or so I've heard. I retired in 2010 and that has changed since I retired. Good luck

Not enough info. So you served your AD contract and you spent a year on Cat B..Then went to Cat A? or did you serve your 8 year obligation and enlisted in the Reserves Cat A. Anyways you don't want to end up being one of those guys crying cause they didn't put in their retirement time in the Reserves and get nothing. No other job pays retirement for doing so little. My brother did 20 years exactly without a deployment about 75 points a year 1 weekend a month..2 weeks AT a year...nothing more..retired pay started last October age 60. Can't do PT get a profile...don't like you unit or MOS...change... go AWOL... Face the music..talk with JAG. keep going burn up the 20 years....

Not enough information here to provide specific advice. Do not stop showing up for drill. Do talk with your Sargent about your concerns. At your next drill ask your Sargent about resigning.

I did discuss it with my sergeant and was told that my best bet was to push through a pt test and injure myself more to get out.

Can you talk to your unit's personnel sergeant or personnel officer or admin sergeant or admin officer about this situation? Can you talk to your unit's senior enlisted advisor? Can you put in a request to speak to your unit's commanding officer? I would not do any physical activity that would most likely further damage you, since you need to live the remainder of your life in as best possible physical shape as possible.
