This is a serious but not so serious post about what lessons ISIS might've learned when they Messed with Texas. What are you thoughts??

"Authorities say the suspects, identified as Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi, drove up to the building where the contest was being held in the Dallas suburb of Garland and opened fire. An unarmed school district security guard was wounded before a Garland police officer returned fire and killed both men."

So they drove up to the gate and basically committed suicide by cop. Nothing was accomplished except for two more terrorists sent to hell. I like that outcome. And really, why should we give a rats about hurting their wittle feewings when they are hell bent to kill us all???

GOOD Jesus baby Christ....

AND PS!! I know we have a LOT of bright people here.... ISIS CLAIMS!!! CLAIMS!!! So some will get what I am asking.... Good God all mighty... I have ELABORATED. Jesus

CLAIM: state or assert that something is the case, typically without providing evidence or proof.

I will correct you, ISIS has learned, simply they are just demonstrating that they are very tech adapt and make use of any possible physiological operation opportunities. As for the "Nothing was accomplished except for two more terrorists sent to hell. I like that outcome." you need to remember that for ten years Al Qaeda attempted to bring down the Twin Towers, which means that this was just the beginning and there is more to come so we need to be more vigilant.

That's Al Qaeda/Taliban. ISIS is whole separate people and I really don't think that they have got the smarts to do something of that magnitude. They are thugs... To me, that is it.

ISIS is in Afghanistan now and remember that ISIS is a branch of Al Qaeda, and you should never underestimate an enemy. Never give an enemy and opportunity to strike. I can only encourage to study the Art of War by Sun Tzu the rest is your choice.

I thought Al Qaeda disavowed any connection to ISIS because ISIS makes Al Qaeda look like boy scouts.

Parent and child disagreements, but both are in Afghanistan conducting attacks. Now when I see Al Qaeda attacking ISIS I will believe those claims.

This is a much larger political problem that I have been expecting for years now. When I retired I went to Mexico the next day, just because I wasn't allowed to while I was in. When I crossed back into the United States my passport showed up on the border patrol agents computer screen with a different name. He told me that this was normal for about 80% of the traffic that he saw at his terminal and let me on through. Really? Luckily I am an American but if we don't have control of our borders, and we are letting everyone come and go as they please, then we cant be surprised when a few terrorists come in too.

Those few that you claim are nothing compare to the copy cats that are citizens and residents, because the fact continue to prove the converts become converts here in the US. An enemy like ISIS, Al Qaeda nor ISIS will not waste resources sending people here when there are so many willing idiots; they get more bang for the bucks by announcing that they turn people to their belief; it is a psych ops fear factor.

I doubt ISIS has learned much of any kind of lesson from this except about getting press coverage. Consider this; They "lost" two assets of questionable value. They had no investment in these two men except for rhetoric. They will use them for the "martyr for the cause" propaganda in recruiting more walking brain dead. There IS a value in being able to claim responsibility for terrorist acts in the US. It will aid in recruiting among the radically inclined and easily swayed. I don't believe ISIS is prepared for the outcome if they manage to really gain our hostile attention though. So far our attention has been pretty much incidental. Some air attacks and logistical support for the forces opposing them. If they DO actually manage to make an effective strike in the US they will gain unforeseen opportunities to meet their "master" in large numbers.
Considering this entire incident reminds me of those old commercials where the bugs tromp into a home and bump into something. They look up an shriek "RAID!" just before they explode.

I agree John! If I were them, I don't think I'd claim this one. They didn't do anything. I am surprised they didn't blame it on the Taliban. I can see the two pointing fingers at each other.

I have to tell you that our car club just had a meet at a gun shop. We had enough weapons to arm a platoon. The next time someone has an event in our area that may be a potential target will well hold a meet and everyone will have their trunks full of guns. If they show up they are going to get a surprise.

Well I have my CHL. I carry a 1911A1 and at least an extra mag. There are a couple in my truck, there are a couple in the night stand and a couple other places in the house strategically placed through out. I live a few miles away from where the attack happened. All I can say is the are messing with the wrong state. This ain't up north or the Northeast. You will get shot here!

Couple of thoughts on this... many already mentioned.

1. My gut is these guys were only associated with ISIS in their own minds. Wannabees.
2. While I agree that fomenting the act by having an event such as this only asked for trouble it seems fair to me that Karma jumped up and slapped them early. No need to waste $$ on a trial.
3. The reality is had this happened in a blue-er state we'd probably be hearing about Fed civil rights violations from the US AG.
4. It is also likely that many talking heads will voice the opinion that what these two wannabees were doing was justified because of the blatant disrespect for Islam.
5. With the current national mindset (a minority mindset with those I know, I might add) that all things liberal (or of a liberal slant) are acceptable, good and just, my gut is that we will also hear the standard Intolerance line from the talking heads - the line that says its okay for Wannabees to act this way to defend Islam but not okay for ______ (fill in the blank) to act to defend - our flag, our religion (whichever you choose to follow), unborn babies, our fellow service members...
6... I could keep going but all here know where I'm coming from.

1. Those guys didn't say they were associated. ISIS actually did. Do they want to claim they were a part of it? Heck yeah, it was the first of this type of "attack."
2. We can't squash freedom of speech, whether we think it is right or wrong or if they were "asking for it." That's what is so awesome about our land. We have gotten WAY TOO PC.
3. You are right about 3. That is so true!!
4. They probably were wannabe's... I mean, ISIS is claiming different, but who cares, right?
I absolutely agree with 95% of what you said. Have a great day Sir.

This was one of the most memorable games ever! I remember watching this at a sports bar. Robin Ventura got pissy with Ryan because he thought Ryan was brushing him back. When he threw inside again, Ventura went nuts and charged the mound. Ryan grabbed him in a headlock and proceeded to put a big old Texas ass-whoopin' on the guy who was more than 20 years his junior. Damn, they just don't make 'em like Nolan Ryan anymore!

I think this event cement Nolan Ryan as a Texas hero, not that he needed to add to his legend at this point but it cemented it!

And he lives about 15 miles from me. Went to his ranch once, and he was outside. I stopped to wave at him and he waved me over and we talked about 5 minutes or so. Great guy. Gotten pretty chunky over the years, but haven't we all.

Get over the hyperbole of Texas, assuming it was ISIS inspired, they were planning on dying. Allowing such an easy access to guns makes it much easier for suicide missions like this to happen.

I applaud the police officers doing their job. I am sickened by how the media covers these things now. As for ISIS learning a lesson, the only lesson they learned is where not to go. This tactic was used in Iraq many times over. Send a few drones i.e. Low level operatives. I am afraid to see what is next since we didn't even react to this one (at the higher levels).
