I was heading into Fort Belvoir today and saw a car with both an "IRAQ, I served" and a "KOREA, I served", sticker. I told my wife, damn, this guy has been around forever, and so I pulled up along side to see this impressive individual. He looked maybe 25. I realized after, that he probably served in Korea recently.
Your thoughts on having a "KOREA, I served" for serving in Korea now?

Be proud of your service...wherever it takes you.
Personally, I wouldn't put either sticker on my car, but if this is how the Soldier likes to express themselves, I'm fine with it.

Thanks SSG. This is my first duty station. I've been here a little over seven years now.

I had an uncle who joined the Navy to see the world. According to him all he ever saw was Teaneck New Jersey. This was also the same clown who when asked if he could swim by the recruiter answered with "what's the matter, ain't you got no boats. Could be why he never left New Jersey.

yes sir, HUGE difference. I got to spend time with a "Frozen Chosin" Marine and hear first hand (not history from a DI) what it was like. It was like nothing I have experienced. My hat goes off.

CMSgt James Nolan, Like my other relatives who served in WWII, he also would not talk much about it. All he would say is he got shot clean through his upper arm at PCH and that the Purple Heart should have been for the hospital care he endured because that hurt worse than actually getting shot.

Perhaps this would create the opportunity for some Rally Point knick-knacks along the same theme. Consider:
Rally Point: I posted
2nd Lts saluting 1st Lts: I commented
Rally Point: My reputation grows
Stealth Down Voter
Who is SSG Burns?
People love what I have to say at Rally Point
also, for those who feel the need to post 26.2, 10K stickers, we could have:
+2
Pathfinder +100
Unlock Special Skill: Nice Response

Yes, I'll take 2, "Rally Point: I posted" bumper stickers, the RallyPoint mouse pad and the SSG Burns bobble-head doll.

Personally, I don't put anything on my vehicles especially the one I drive. I do this for two reasons: first, I think it detracts from the appearance of the vehicle; two, it's an OPSEC thing for me. When I see a vehicle with a "Half my heart is in (insert deployed location)", I think of the danger that person has placed their family. A smart criminal (yes, there are some out there) will know it means the wife's military husband is away and the house MIGHT possibly be easy pickings for whatever criminal activity they have in mind.
Like MSG Quick stated though, if others wish to put something on then by all means. It's up to each individual. :D

I agree, in an age of real and severe threats of terrorism where ever we go, OPSEC is huge. I refuse to give them the advantage of gathering intel for their advantage.

Sir, exactly, which is partially why I don't put stuff on my vehicles. My wife likes some things but they are innocuous to say the least.

I am pretty sure that sticker is meant for the Korean War veterans. As a young Soldier I was proud of my job, my unit, and the war zones I served in so I flaunted a little...especially with Infantry stickers on the high interest rate Grand Prix I owned as a Specialist. As I matured in the Army I realized that I was slowly becoming more conservative. Now all I have is an O.I.F license plate...but no less prouder than I was as a Specialist. Its always good when a Soldier is proud of something...unless its drugs. Drugs are bad! :)

SSG Saintil... I have an Afghanistan "I served" sticker on my truck. Sad but true fact, it gets you out of tickets should you ever get caught speeding.

Sir, I would never put that on my car. I already did my one year and will call it good for now.

I enjoyed my time with 2-72 AR while it was there. My former BN XO was a PL there with me.

I have an Iraqi Campaign sticker on mine, along wtih a Signal Regiment Sticker. Proud of both but since I have left active duty, I have questioned myself putting them on in the first place. Having said that, if they deployed somewhere, I can see a sense of pride in a sticker on their car. If they are part of a regiment or a unit in current or in past times, I can see that sense of pride too. But as it is said above, it brings out an OPSEC risk, which is why I have questioned myself ever since day one. As much as they have faded, the temptation is there to replace them with new ones..but part of me is thinking to leave them be and let them come off in due time or by my own hand.
Now as far as Korea goes, if they deployed there, or served in the Korean conflict, I don't have an issue with it. It is those who were assigned there and came back acting all big and bad (and I know one such instance) that they deployed there.
Honestly mixed feelings.
