Who besides me thinks it's stupid to have the rank on the chest on the ACUs? As far as I'm concerned, that's a sexual harassment complaint waiting to happen. "Oh no Ma'am, I wasn't trying to stare at your breasts, I was just trying to figure out if I need to salute you or not."

If someone things you're staring at their breasts to see their rank, you are probably staring at their breasts. Lol
It doesn't take that long to look at rank. I like rank on the sleeves or the collar, but up front isn't all bad. I have seen some people stare at women and then come up with some cockamamie excuse like I was looking to see you rank. Well you were 3 feet away and looking for 10 seconds. I hardly think it takes you that long to figure out she is a PFC.

I could understand that. However, usually a LTC is 40 years old and a cadet is 20. Hardly think you'd have trouble identifying that. Lol. Again. There are circumstances, however, when in doubt, you salute. I've saluted a SPC before. He saluted me back. We both wondered why we were saluting each other but we chuckled at one another once we passed. No biggy. When in doubt, whip it out.

Oh the jokes I could make if this were certain groups on Facebook *snicker*...I'm so 12 sometimes. But I'll refrain here.

On a more serious note, if we went back to on the sleeve for NCO/Enlisted and on the collar for officers, it'd be easier. If you see nothing on the sleeve, salute.

Facebook is the devil. I deleted my account and my 800 friends. Be careful with your friends, chief. They are more jealous than your enemies.

I think it would be great to have rank on the sleeve for NCO/Enlisted and on the collar for Officers.

CW3 (Join to see) I prefer sleeves and collars (The Corps still does it this way.) Your point is something I never thought about. I have noticed the similarities in young LTCs and old SPCs. I always thought the funniest part was it's like a Snipers' dream: 1.Rank check 2. Aimpoint.

...and that's why I wear a max-compression sports bra in ACUs. I have had people see me out of uniform, stare directly at my breasts and say, "wow, you look totally different in civilians." Um, yeah.

Hey CW2(Verify to see), You got to watch those replies! I almost abused some good rum spiked coffee over that one!!

All jokes aside, good one! What was wrong with the collar? Kept your eye contact up where it should be. Of course any organization who can't decide on their "motto", why would they figure this one out?

What's the Verify to see about, SGM Dawson? Is it not showing you my name? It's J.D. Walker.

It's because you are an unverified veteran SGM Mikel Dawson many folks have their security settings to such that unless you are verified you can't see everything.

My time was short comparred to some 66-68. I liked the sleeve rank and the old fatigues. Just think how many times since then that they've changed the unifom and rank placement spending a ga zillion dollars each time and all these cardboard arm deals they wear now. I don't get it but I don't have to wear it so it makes no difference.

CW3 (Join to see) Chief, common sense always seems to be exuded by Warrant Officers. I agree with you. I would prefer rank on the collar. Even when deployed I rarely used the "mandarin" collar on my ACUs. If the collar cannot be used, then I would prefer the rank be placed on the sleeve, but this leaves an interesting gap for Warrant Officers and Officers alike. My final assessment would be to place the rank back on the collar. As if you are wearing the “mandarin” collar, you should be wearing body armor and your rank will be on it, or you will be wearing a combat shirt and then this issue is mute.

SFC Dr. Joseph Finck, BS, MA, DSS one would hope body armor is not needed in garrison. I would like to see a return to rank on the collar as well, but the mandarin style collar of the current utility uniform doesn't lend itself as well to that.
