I am so glad I was able to experience the late 40's before going into the service in the early 50's. No distractions peace & harmony with each other & lots of time for school & play. Doors could be left open & we could hitch hike to the beach and other places without fear. No guns, not much crime etc.

Sitting next to myself in MEPPS...hey kid, tell them you want the job your gut is telling you to do. Don't be swayed by the promise of an extra stripe or bonus money. Follow your instinct. You will stay in longer and be happier.

Get ready for the ride of your life! It won't be boaring and you will make a difference in so many people's lives as well as National Security. You will save numerous aircrews from disaster and send a pilot to the Manned Space Program as an astronaut. You will tour the World, live in places you could never imagine, and fly to places that airliners never go. You won't be able to sit back, but take a bag of popcorn with you and enjoy the ride!

Always be proud, of your service, and never forget the oath you took, because you're never relieved of said oath. Hoooah!

The 6502 processor wasn't even thought of, when I served. The 8008 appeared after I was back home.

I have two Apple computers. I use them for door stops. I work on computers, but not Apple. I started with industrial (Motorola Exorcisor bus) computers in 1982, then went on to Commodore VIC 20 computers. It wasn't until I was repairing IBM clones that i replaced some bad boards.
I had a charter subscription to Byte magazine, when they featured homebrew computers.
I was investing my money into my Industrial Electronics business when Apple did its IPO.

Be careful where/when in the past you would go. There have been many instances in past history when people who acted differently were not treated well, and were accused of being a witch, etc.

I would tell my younger self to be more dedicated and motivated. I would also tell him to wait it out to get the MOS he really wanted
