The issue here, is that he did NOT do any research into what was required for him to carry a TASER, or if it was even allowed. That's his fault. Pure and simple. If he can order it online, then he can take a moment and Google "Wisconsin Taser Laws" and pull up the EXACT law he would need to know about. He could then Google "Wisconsin Concealed Carry Laws" and learn how to get a CCW permit.

That does NOT mean I agree with those laws. That being said - there is a very common phrase that EVERYONE should know: " Ignorantia juris non excusat" or to translate/paraphrase: "Ignorance of the law does not excuse you from the law"...

If that were the case, a murder could get away with murder simply by stating that he didn't know that it was against the law to kill someone.

So, unfortunately, while I disagree with the law Wisconsin has on carrying a concealed Taser, it is the law, and must be followed, and him being charged is what must happen. Ideally, what will happen, is his attorney will get him off on a misdemeanor charge, and he has learned a valuable lesson.

Heard of similar stories...makes you not want to get involved...
Or, once you deal with the situation, you need to move on out and be known as an unidentified good Samaritan...

MAJ Jim Steven, I got you, sir.

I discovered long ago, I am the man who charges the man who threats others or runs into burning building. Because I get a rush from helping others.

So carry a mask and use an alias.

Call me "Billy Bob Bigglesworthington III" or Bill for short... or Bob.. and on formal occasions Mr Bigglesworthington ... or Mr B for semiformal occasions.

As SFC (Join to see) says we do not have to agree with the law but the gentlemen violated the law and therefore must face the music.

I agree with law. I own a Tazer. But I would expect a Law Enforcement Officer to carry a Tazer. I just find it funny someone is carrying a tazer in public.

It's fairly easy to get a concealed carry license in WI. I have to wonder how it came about that he admitted to concealing it? Or if he did. If I were him, I'd make them prove that I ever had concealed it, come my day in court. WI has "free" open carry. I hope the DA drops the charges, though. Only reasonable thing to do, as far as I can see.

I say if you got a Tazer just wave it around now and then. So not to conceal it.

Then in this situation yell "put done gun or I will shot with this sort-of-a-gun... but not really a gun... because it is a tazer and it hurts".
