Most Annoying Base in the military and why was it so?

I am currently at Fort Stewart, GA, for some training. Shout out to those Dog Faced Soldiers! But I have been to many bases and I have never heard so many bugle calls in my life, this also includes the playing of the 3rd ID song every morning. I swear I have seen people just sprint off when they hear a call because they don't know what to do. So far I have found that this post does 13 bugle calls. Fort Bragg got nothing on this place.

True statement. I went to Sheppard AFB back in 2012 for a school and drove from NY so I had wheels for 2 monthhs. Didn't matter. There's nothing to do at Wichita Falls

I wouldn't mind 13 bugke calls after being at Camp Bullis in San Antonio. You never know what they are going to play. In the morning or at night they might play Reveille, To the Colors, Retreat, the National Anthem, or a combination of all in no certain order.

On JBLM, why doesn't the Army render respect for retreat or the national anthem? Going through the gate one time, the soldier asked why do they play this on the AF side?

I'm in Hoof but went to Bullis for training last year. I thought it was just a one time thing. Lol

How can anyone complain about Bullis? Tiny post, full of reserve/ ng/ medac units next to a big city. Too easy.

Went to Camp Bullis for small arms firing on the rifle range (day and night firing) while attending Air Police Tech School at Lackland (1959).

I Fuk N loved 29. Would be out there during CAX or something and we'd get all these other units in from other areas of the country looking all pudgy and babyfaced. We were all leathery, chapped and hard chiseled.

I loved 29 Palms. It was so beautiful. Plus Palm Springs boutique shopping just an 1 1/2 hours away and Vegas just about 2 hours away. Spent a lot of weekends hiking and exploring Jousha Tree National Park, oh and the best part male to female ratio in the mid 80's was 1 WM to 140 male Marines. It was like being in a candy store.

Try being stationed at the Stumps without a car. Welcome to my tour before I first got out.

Ugh, was at Stumps for a year for A school. Summer's sucked ass, it was so fucking hot, everything was brown and grey, except the palm trees. It actually snowed once too. 1975.

Okay Kandahar, the POO Pond and bumper to bumper traffic, severe flooding, dust storms and noise in general......you did say military base didn't you? If I have to chose one in CONUS or OCONUS that is not a combat zone base, let me know, but I could go on about Kandahar!

I still liked KAF better than BAF. But then again, BAF was just so damned cold when I was there.

I was stationed in Kandahar for about a month, and visited Bagram regularly after I got moved to Shank. Kandahar was the worse of the 2. But, in all honesty any base on a combat zone with fast food joints is far from the worst base. In fact staying in Bagram a little longer for some Pizza Hut saved the lives of my flight crew that day. We had a mortar round hit 6 feet from the edge of our parking pad about the time that we were originally scheduled to be in it. We also lived in tents, and I still consider Shank to be worlds better than some of FOBs and COPs we resupplied. I was there in 2011-2012.

I used to think the same thing but the poo pond is no more, the boardwalk is a shell of what it used to be, there is no traffic and over half the place is abandoned now a days. I hardly recognized it when I showed up there last year.

Laughlin AFB Texas, a full scale nuclear strike on this shit hole would be a blessing.

Lackland AFB in 80 for basic. Basic wasn't shit but there was a world wide retro fit on B52s Going on so they were in and out 24 / 7 for months flying right over your heads. No sleep at all

Stationed there for 5 1/2 years. Maybe not the vest assignment, but we like it there and would t be upset if we had to go back. It is what YOU make it and sound's like you failed.

Benning was annoying in that traffic sucked gettin on post in the morning. Only really 1 entrance off I-285 and that clogged up pretty darn quick. And it sucked even worse that the CSH (who I was assigned to) was all the way down on the airfield by the Ranger Batt and Airborne school. If you timed it wrong you could get stuck behind an airborne shuffle for about 40mins.....

My only complaint about Benning was the isolation. 19th Inf, out in South Harmony Church, right down the road from Ranger school. Main post was pretty nice.

I deployed with 3rd ID to the Balkans in '00. Any reference to Audie Murphy still makes me cranky.

Dude...
Damn near every one of us has been assigned to a base somewhere around the world where we felt the military would use to provide enemas... don't feel alone...
