Ah yes, we've all seen them; "so, there you were" in a theater or a room full of service members or veterans, one minute everything's ok, then all of a sudden there it is... the over-the-top military movie discrepancy! So, what was that moment that stands out most in your mind? What are those associated memories or stories that come to mind? Did the base theater erupt into 'chaos' over an unkempt/incorrect uniform, improper language/jargon/ customs, or was there something that was just plain 'unsat' from a military point-of-view. lol Well, there's a ton of them out there, and I'm pretty sure that something should immediately come to mind, so what are we waiting for? Quick, pull up a keyboard, and let's get this thing started; thanks for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

I may need to have a second look, but if I remember correctly John Wayne jumps out of a "perfectly good" aircraft without hooking up his static line in "The Green Berets".

Most recently Lone Survivor, calling a Marine Staff Sergeant a Sergeant :(

TV show Homeland, messing up the rank, wearing the wrong uniform, and that Marine needed a hair cut every episode!

Amazingly funny show. I love how they spoof on every stereotype you could have in a unit, which applies to more than just the army mind you.

I like the TV series "COMBAT!".   But, there was a two part episode where SGT Saunders and the platoon were helping a group of English defend a Rail Road Station.

At the very end, they were panning up to show the station from the air, you could see the street next to the set and saw new cars driving up and down the modern road.

I almost fell out of my chair.

FYI: COMBAT was the #1 show on AFRTV in RVN.
While spending some time in Charlie Med. we all watched it on the ward.

The last scene of John Wayne's "The Green Berets", a movie so bad it's good:
Q - Who let a bird colonel go on that one?
A - Probably the same guy who thinks it's a good idea for Kirk to go on every landing party.
Q - Who let this foreign national kid onto the flight line?
Q - How is the sun setting over what was most likely the East coast?

Everything about the "Philadelphia Experiment". Being from the Electronic Warfare Community, I know to every good legend is a Kernel of truth but in this case it is a very small one, I'm sure what they are describing is an early WWII Version of the SLQ-32, Yep it puts out a bit of Juice, Yep it will get warm but no it doesn't make the ship disappear at least in the visual spectrum and no it won't make you melt into the ship.

Outstanding choice, I remember the movie and it certainly made The 'A' Team TV series look high-talent/high-budget in comparison; good stuff indeed, way too funny!

In the Green Berets, one of the jump scenes feature John Wayne as jumpmaster on a static line jump, then jumping without hooking up.

Every time I hear “over and out” or “repeat”. The Forward Observer in me screams. I explain to anyone watching with me that “over” means “I am done, your turn” and “repeat” to fire the last arty mission again.

I think the one I dislike the most is "ROGER WILCO"
I'm just screaming to myself, "you can't use them together like that!"

I loved the four Spruance Class Destroyers in a nest in the movie Pearl Harbor. Considering they weren't commissioned until after 1975, would mean they have to have been with the USS Nimitz in "The Final Countdown".

What always irks me are the military movies from the late 60s thru the 70s where the actors’ hair isn’t even close to military regs of the era the movie is set, mostly WWII and sideburns and fu Manchu moustaches are everywhere!

Almost every movie ever made about the War Between the States incorporates 1873 Colts and Springfield Trapdoors.
