Ah yes, we've all seen them; "so, there you were" in a theater or a room full of service members or veterans, one minute everything's ok, then all of a sudden there it is... the over-the-top military movie discrepancy! So, what was that moment that stands out most in your mind? What are those associated memories or stories that come to mind? Did the base theater erupt into 'chaos' over an unkempt/incorrect uniform, improper language/jargon/ customs, or was there something that was just plain 'unsat' from a military point-of-view. lol Well, there's a ton of them out there, and I'm pretty sure that something should immediately come to mind, so what are we waiting for? Quick, pull up a keyboard, and let's get this thing started; thanks for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

"The Boys of Abu Ghraib"
The soldiers are wearing the SSI of my old unit, the 43d MP Bde, not the 800th MP Bde. Needless to say we veterans of the 43d are a bit POed to say the least. We are the ones who closed Abu Ghraib in 2006. The 43rd was not even BOG in Iraq when all that went down under the 800th

In the movie Iron Eagle the main characters father is a Colonel. Upon returning from sneaking his son on a training flight the colonel salutes and is dressed down by a major. WTF,O.

Just saw another one y'all. The movie: Shooter. The star: Mark Wahlberg. The discrepancy: At the beginning of the movie the sniper team is on a "peacekeeping" mission based in Camp LeMonier, which the movie says is in Ethiopia. Camp LeMonier is in Djibouti. It also shows the camp as a small collection of tents in a desert surrounded by T-walls and such. Not so. Camp L. is a former French Foreign Legion post, right by the Red Sea, that is built up very well with permanent buildings and paved roads. And that was in '05. I've heard it is even better now.

I always cringe when I see a complete lack of trigger discipline. That and the general lack of firearms etiquette seen throughout Hollywood.

Basically all of the movie "Cadet Kelly!" :P I think they kept referring to someone wearing BG shoulder boards as a Captain. that made me cringe.

I admire close order drill. While watching Annapolis (2006), the Plebes were introduced to Tyrese Gibson's character (Midshipman Cole). He told the Asian guy to zip up the body bag, the same Plebe executed port arms backwards.
It's barely noticeable; however, being a Marine that wanted to become a drill instructor, my eyes immediately saw it. lol

Sir, there was a movie I recall was the Final count down,
What I find amazing was that here we found the US. Navy on a time track going back to 1941 to confront a war that we all knew about but at that time were not aware.
I find it interesting how I often find todays military to be very impressive compare of my time but todays military don't get it.
This was a scene from that movie:

WarGames (1983) with Matthew Broderick.
"I want a visual confirmation on that. Scramble two F-16s out of Galena". Then they show two F-15s.

Col (Join to see)
Sgt Ramos, great catch, this is a real "blast from the past," Ferris Bueller, before he was Ferris Bueller, playing super-nerdy computer "thermonuclear war." It's great looking back at the old equipment and modem used for connection (which was considered state-of-the-art at the time). Great stuff, good eye, and... thanks for the memories! lol
