Ok , with out singling out any one particular INDIVIDUAL, I am not referring to a Sikh, a sloth a slith or any other such creature. I am referring to a situation involving The United States Armed forces and its Military dress and Uniform codes and what is proposed by CERTAIN individuals either within the ranks or in a building in Washington DC or where ever decisions about a uniform code for dress for the military are made. It has always been made clear that beards would prevent the proper sealing of a pro mask, gas mask, NBC mask and any other name I may have missed, so why are we now hearing from SOME that it no longer matters? and that a beard DOES not prevent a pro mask from sealing. Should we believe that what we were told as soldiers was a lie? I myself would rather NOT think that the people I thought were professionals lied to me and if they did, what else have I been lied to about? I also think that ANYONE who voluntary joins any branch of service should not be able to demand a any thing and should conform to the Regulations and not try to single them selves out and throw further hatred and racism to their already feeble foot hold they have in this country. By allowing this to happen the military is just begging for other cultures to follow suit and demand that they too receive in some way or another a change in their uniforms as well.

Always amazes me that blowhards like you are legends in their own mind and their inflated egos have so little to offer. You have a bad habit of calling people names and attacking people you don't know by making caustic remarks. You act pretty brave on the internet---which leaves me to believe in a face-to-face confrontation you would be a Wuss in person. Fortunately for you, I use sarcasm because beating the crap out of somebody like you is illegal. If this "old man" had you here in person, I'd slap you senseless ... but I can't spare three seconds! Spread your horseshit somewhere else.

Read the comments section in the article itself. I've never seen so many unemployable retards with internet access in my life

1LT Leo Sudnik Thank you sir. I don't understand, we are such a diverse nation, but some people are so far stuck in outdated ways. In fact, most of the people complaining are starting to say stupid things like "Well maybe I should say I worship Obi Wan Kenobi so I can grow a beard too". Many are minimalizing things that some people base their entire lives around or take very seriously. You don't have to like it, but you should be a big enough person to accept the fact that maybe everyone isn't the same as others.

1LT Leo Sudnik fortunately/unfortunately, I no longer serve. I now spread love through music. I had the same philosophy as an NCO, though. I appreciate the kind words sir.

1LT Leo Sudnik it's just "dude" now, sir. haha. Keep your kids in music! Music works on so many parts of the brain, the art side, the language portion, it's nothing but beneficial, even if they don't pursue music as anything more than a hobby, it's a great thing sir!

Keep them on the path! Music taught me a lot about relating to people, hard work. Playing guitar taught me stuff about not quitting, even when you try and tell yourself you aren't "cut out" for it. stuff like that. Also, teach the kids that like playing an instrument, if you put honest effort into anything, you only get better.

My thoughts are if you join the US Military you DID NOT JOIN A DEMOCRACY. You do what you are told and train for you MOS. You were supposed to conform to the military way of doing things. At least when I joined. Just because you do not like what you have to do to stay in or have a different religion or belief does not mean the military should change to suit you. I see a dangerous trend going on not only in the military but in the entire US. We are told to be tolerant of others, their beliefs, their ideas even if we do not agree with them. Well see how that is working out for us with ISIS? Be nice to muslims. They are good!! Well that bit us in the butt in a hurry. Now they are stronger than ever and striking in Canada USA and other countries. If we keep letting others walk all ove us there will be no us or America or US Military we will be able to recognize. Wake up folks. We are losing what we fought for over 200 years ago.

You are replying to a post that is so misleading as to be false. No religious group 'demanded' anything. No regulations were changed. The DOD published a clarification of expectations about religious accommodations in January 2014. The Army already met those standard. The Soldiers pictured are not Muslim, they are Sikh and have been serving for several years without any issues, including wearing protective gear. The fact that you didn't know the regulations, policies, and procedures regarding uniforms and religious accommodations well enough to notice this, even though they have been basically unchanged for years, is troubling. Even the most junior Soldier could have checked this out on Snopes. http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/armyturban.asp
Did Muslims demand the U.S. Army change its dress code to allow turbans and beards?

I'm for religion freedom and all but there comes a time where the buck needs to stop, albeit Muslim, Sikh, etc.

If you are for freedom of religion, then the 'buck' doesn't stop at a particular religion. If you are going to pick and choose WHICH religion that IS religious discrimination, and blatantly in violation of not only Army regulation and policy, but also Army values and the constitution you swore an oath to defend, young Sergeant. Examine yourself and determine if you are going to align your values with Army values and uphold that oath or not. Also, you are replying to a post that is so misleading as to be false. No religious group 'demanded' anything. No regulations were changed. The DOD published a clarification of expectations about religious accommodations in January 2014. No muslim or any other religious groups should demand our military dress code to be changed. It doesn't matter who you are sikh muslim ect... What should be important is that our protective gear for our American Soldiers both men and women are properly made, available and adequate for their safety. In the 80's there was an incident we did not have proper clean filters for our bio mask to replace. We do not want to hear some gun ho person saying that does not matter. It caused some to be sick. Why we didn’t have available filters to replace in the mask I do not know. They were very old and very used already. We want our American Soldiers both male & female to see that they have functional, equipped, safe equipment & gear and not made to where they are irritating. This is what should be important. Our military dress code should not stoop to religion, especially those that speak outwardly they are against US!!! As far as not knowing those of us that are not in the military now how are we to know for sure. The military has shown us their corruption, misleading and cover-ups in the past some has. This we know for a fact in hearings, news report and in courts not holding rapist responsible allowing them to continue to rape, even when they get out of the service. Whether the demand of changing the dress code to accommodate muslims ect... is true or not or just someone asking a question what if, the above is my answer!!!

Regardless if this is disinformation or truth. The problem would be setting a precedent that others would take advantage of. If beards are not allowed then no beards allowed. The old saying if you don't like it don't join would apply. Enough with the political correct crap. If a individuals religious believes did not allow the color green would we allow them a different uniform? It's the military it's the rules so live with it or shut up.

So SGM Robin Johnson you are saying its ok for your leaders to give the ok for muslims to be honored in the ranks by allowing them to show their devotion to their religion, when Obama has done away with Christian prayer in many places??this makes you a hypocrite and in my eyes a disgrace to the uniform you wear. I swore the same oath you did and no where in there did it say I would ever look away from my religion and allow any one person to take my religion away from me while in uniform but allow others to practice theirs.Or to allow the enemy into my ranks so they can learn to fight us from within. Are you so ignorant in your cushy job that you do that you do not see how many times this country has trained Muslims in warfare only to have them turn against us? Is it not true that American Muslims were taught here in the states to fly planes then attacked on 9/11???is it not true that American Muslims were caught trying to gain access to small aircraft to yet again launch a terrorist attack on US soil??? Time and time again we hear in the media about American Muslims being terrorists, so you tell me is this true or not??? if its true , then why should anyone trust them in our military ranks??? if its not true then who is really behind 9/11??

MSgt Curtis Border, do not worry about Johnsons views as they are a bit twisted, she has gone as far as to say that all that oppose what she is preaching should shame themselves and should not wear the rank of an NCO if active duty. She rants about teaching young soldiers about how its their sworn duty to uphold Oaths and orders and threatens them with corrective actions if they dont fall in line behind her and follow her, if I were a young soldier I would turn and walk out of the room she was setting in. If this was the best the Army could find when they promoted her then it was a sad day indeed.I feel its wrong to lead by threats and abuse such as she is spewing, she seems to know regulations very well judging by her actions here she had to have been every soldiers nightmare and had a very lonely career as I cant even see peers adhering to her actions/behavior, yes I am rude, but at least I am only rude to idiots and have much respect for Officers and NCO's who lead by example and dont force soldiers to conform to bullshit.

Then don't join our United States of America Armed Forces. No beards and no Turbans. This is America's Armed Forces not a religious group or church. When does Muslims demand anything our Army to do. The Muslims do not run our Armed Forces. If so then there is a betrayal. During the time I was in Muslims and Islamic sexually harassed, degraded, abused and attacked female American Soldiers.

Too bad the article has a Sikh pictured. However, Are you saying that "Christians" never commit atrocities towards other groups of people? Also I don't know if you know anything about Catholics, but they are still in some hot water with regards to child molestation and things of that nature.

No not at all. The company commander that attacked me for reporting rape & violent attacks to him he was a Christian and so were the people that he got to help him to almost kill me and cause medical suffering for the rest of my life with irreversible conditions. I got permission to report the violent crimes to him and to speak with him. I had every right because my orders currently were sending me back to the country where the attacks & crimes occurred and where the perpetrators were still stationed. Our Military Law states if you witness or experience crimes and do not report them we are accountable. I was doing what I was supposed to be doing. However, due to the allowed gross bias treatment, retaliations, intentional sabotage and unlawful destruction towards soldiers’ lives for reporting rape, sexual assaults and gross vast amounts of wrongdoings, even though the commander was a Christian he destroyed my life, my career and my health forever. These crimes were already known the previous commander said, “Oh I’m sorry, but keep your mouth shut or it will hurt you and end your career and just go to your next unit!” That commander should have done something, but he did not. Being attacked at work at my work station in broad daylight where I am supposed to be forcing me to fight for my life causing injuries then turn around and do nothing is evil and unlawful. The commander already knew of the attack before I even got to speak to him the training officer was fully aware of it as well. Being sexually assault at the Military hospital on a hospital table there for surgery and having the commander tell me before I got to request from him help that there is nothing I can do so shut up is unlawful and evil. Getting back to the Christian commander he knew the truth already, but he didn’t want to deal with it so he attacked me. He locked me up in a room I became sick I didn’t know that I had Graves’ Disease, he would let me eat or drink when I need to all because I reported a crime to him. I became worse he got his good old buddy male system pal to write me off that there was nothing wrong and kept me locked up denying me help, slandering me calling me names and labeling me that later caused the VA bias treatment & harm, along with professional jobs that I should have been hired for. They gave me orders signed by the commander if I went to another medical doctor or sought out any medical help or by getting anyone to help me to seek medical care I would be court martialed and put in a real jail. I got so bad that I ended up in the hospital and my life was destroyed forever all because of reporting rape & violent sexual assault and because of saying no to another male. Many black males overseas admitted, bragged and professed that it is there right to rape and do whatever they need to towards a female using their religious right (muslim & Islamic). They were never held accountable. If you said no to a male that you didn’t want to have sex they would attack you. One male said he would see to that I would be sabotaged and regret for saying no!!! I was later in my military career before the Christian commander destroyed my life dealt with gross wrongdoings and attacks due to the male in Korea that threatened to help me several times and even out of the service. I have witnessed and experienced multiple violent unlawful attacks & wrongdoings. No person should be destroyed or have to deal with torture, attacks and destruction all because the violent criminal is using their religious beliefs ever. No soldier or person shall ever have to deal with someone retaliating against them for saying NO. I do not have to be forced to have sex with anyone, be related to someone, be married, be of a certain political party, be a male, be of a certain race and be of a certain religion to be able to report crimes without attacks, to receive help from gross violent wrongs without retaliation, force to deal with attacks due to the person’s religious beliefs and to seek legal & medical help EVER!!! The rape cultural is not truly being corrected and mst persons are not truly being helped properly. The VA is denying medical care & denying mental help. There is being allowed gross amounts of orchestrated harm to sabotage, setup and to destroy many persons that report violent crimes. Any time any orchestrated harm is carried out all should be legally dealt with and the person that they hurt helped & protected. There is being allowed way too much corruption from too many thinks that they can do whatever they wish to anyone and not be held accountable. We are not getting legal help in a timely manner or allowed legal help. The rapist & violent criminals that attacked, because they were not held accountable went & hurt other people and came after me when I was in civilian life. Our Military & Veterans Administration the corruption & gross wrongs doings needs to be cleaned up and those fired & held accountable that are a part, allowing and attempting to cover it up. Our Military should not ever bend down to any religious beliefs to change that professes that they have a right to degrade, sexually assault, and rape that disrespect women. Any religion that professes outwardly that they want to hurt America, our Military and Americans should not be forcing our Military to change by their laws. Church & state must be separated!!! I have witnessed & experienced way too much so there is nothing anyone can say. One day justice will be served and those that were harmed will be helped.

It seems to me like we are becoming something other than the, the armed forces of the "United States Of America" by giving into the beliefs of religious preference. I personally don't see anything wrong with participating in your religious beliefs, on your time in the appropriate facility. What I do believe to be total and utter "Bullshit", is me conducting a formal personnel inspection prior to the Command wide inspection and you wearing a towel around your head with a beard!!! That will not happen on my watch period "Sikh, Muslim, or what ever your belief, you enlisted in the 'United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force..... This means you will adhere to all military uniform standards and rules and regulations that in effect "Good Order And Discipline" apply....
It sort of borders on the principal of what part of my instruction and conversation do "YOU" not understand, regarding your desires ! We go into combat or a social function in uniform, you will look as every other sailor onboard clean shaven (unless medically unable) and the appropriate hair cut with the issued cover ! This brings back a memory of fact while I was a Recruit Company Commander, I had a recruit that was a devout 7th Day Adventist and provided me with a tid bit of information regarding his religious beliefs. To the effect he would not be able too participate in any training evolutions (Saturdays and Sundays), so I appropriately had him transferred and we began an administrative separation for cause....
I have no need for someone in my charge, on a patrol up the rivers or in the thick of a rice paddy that would tuck and run to hide in order to pray. I will not allow my sailors nor combat soldier to die because someone if this caliber, decides he/she can not have my six! This would make you become a casualty unfortunately in time of conflict. So to you who feel this strongly about your religious preference , you should request and immediate discharge for we have a job to do and that involves protecting this great country..............
And yes I did understand the article that was generated.
