Awards
What are your thoughts about RallyPoint adding an 'Awards' sub-section under our 'Military Credentials' section of our profile?

What purposes would this serve?
- Highlights additional credentials throughout career
- Educates junior servicemembers of potential awards they can strive to compete for/earn
- Publicizes lesser known awards (annual, lifetime, etc)
- Potential enhancement for future employment opportunities

Have you been awarded the SGM Larry Strickland Educational Leadership Award or the GEICO Military Service Award or have you been selected for an award during an NCO Education System course or won a servicemember (Soldier/Airman/Seaman/Marine, etc) of the month/quarter/year competition?

Points:
- You could add Regimental Association Awards (Horatio Gates, Order of the Dragon, Order of the Marechaussee, etc.)
- You could add Sergeants Audie Murphy/Morales inductions
- You could add Soldier/NCO of the Month/Quarter/Year
- You could add NCOES awards (Honor Grad, Commandant's List, Leadership award, etc)
- You could add lesser know awards

Note: Not intended for military awards and decorations that you wear on your chest (that ribbon rack you wear sometimes).

When looking through military records, these accomplishments are rarely seen or buried within evaluations or other awards because they are never highlighted or added to military records, but they ARE important.

Sounds like a good idea SGM Quick. Since this is the place to have a public facing military resume, it should be a complete one. I like the fact that your bio shows medals for deployments, so why not show the rest. How about if RP took the "build a rack" approach and showed your ribbons & skill badges.

I've actually often wondered why RP doesn't have that feature, when I was first making my profile I was actually searching for that section, but to no avail I never found it of course. I would definitely like to see this implemented. But of course require verification with ERB/DD-214.

Its a great idea. I'd recommend it to be all-encompassing so as to encapsulate each branch.

Additionally, I'd recommend a little homework to go along with this insomuch as to include linked reference to the various associations/clubs referenced so our younger service members can educate themselves on the requirements and selection criteria accordingly.

here's a couple links:

Most definitely should be all-encompassing.

When I was listing my examples, I didn't know what other services had...another reason why a little education could be helpful.

I concur. Rally Point should have this sub section added.

Nothing wrong it, I like it. We should be able to show what we have been recognized for and maybe that will give others incentive to achieve more.

Non-military Awards should go under its own section. I think we should create a different section for that. If it is an award that is given to servicemembers like the GEICO award, SGT Audie Murphy or the SOM/NCO of the Month- then yes, put that under a subsection of military awards.

Maybe 'non-military awards' is causing confusion...maybe awards, other than those approved through DA Form 638 (or service equivalent)?

Do servicemembers even earn 'non-military awards'?

If we define non-military awards as those not listed in 600-8-22 or listed for wear in 670-1 then that is one way. Another way we could define it as those not listed on the ERB is another way. For example, I was awarded the DISA-K facility of the year award two years in a row. That was awarded for military service for a communications facility. That is not worn nor is it covered in 670-1. But, I would not have received it if it wasn't for military service. The important thing we need to do before we consider this is defining what is a non-military award?

Hopefully this will serve to educate more of our servicemembers for more opportunities and preserve many of these lesser known awards.

Maybe LTC Yinon Weiss, CPT Aaron Kletzing, (Join to see), Nick Petros and the RallyPoint Team will take this under consideration?

Awards bring incintives. While being good at whatever you chose has its owe incintive to be The Best,
Alit of things that improve ones own position and or the units, they are overlooked or credit isnt given where its due. Along with that is your proverable snake in the grass who takes credit for what s\he hasn't done. Yes and they should be a part of their permanent military records.

SGM Matthew Quick, this would be a great addition. Definitely will let us look at other accomplishments a service member has earned. In addition, it will allow us to network with said service member if we also desire to accomplish and earn some of those awards.
