Happy New Year to all!
My wish to you is that you have a better 2015 than you had in 2014. In order to do that, here is what I am going to do:
1. Learn to listen better. I have a bad habit of trying to take over a conversation. I would get along much better with others if I could learn to shut up and hear what they are saying.
2. Be more patient. Like #1, a flaw of mine. I find the best solutions take time to develop and implement.
3. Get on the horse for physical fitness. I have been wanting to compete in a triathlon for some time. This year, I will work hard to get ready for one. I dread the swim, but I am determined.
4. Have more fun with my children. They are only young once.
5. Reach out more. No man is an island, no matter how hard they try. The choices we make affect others, sometimes more than we know. (shout out to George Bailey from "It's a Wonderful Life")
I don't know what my future holds; a lot of it is up in the air. But I know if I do my best to make myself better, my future will be brighter than it otherwise would be.

Outstanding declarations indeed! You are correct in that your kids are only young once! So lets start there and make it the best of 2015! I know youre an excellent father and provider. Now for your #1. I guess that is why God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth, to listen more and talk less. At least you recognize what your shortcomings are and willing to make adjustments. Hooah!

Any free advice from you Northern California Hippies would be welcome! Will be looking for some new golfing pals before long!
Have started back to school, hope to get very close to finishing BS by end of year, 10 classes left!

I'm focusing on getting healthy; mentally and physically.
I'm going to try to drink more water and cut sugar.
Work on my running and hope to run my first 5K this year.

I'm 46 and wish I started younger working on my health. But I'm doing it now. I know some may consider it vain or selfish, but if I'm not healthy how can I expect to be a good mother, or worker, or girlfriend, or friend?

Happy New Year to all. For 2015 I will continue my faith in the lord. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May 2014 had surgery in June 2014 and continue check ups every three months. So I will keep my faith that I will continue with positive results. I don't look at it as a curse but just another bump in the road of life. And 2015 will be better!

Happy New Year, SFC A.M. Drake! I hope that my 2015 brings continued good health. I guess that would be enough. I also hope (and plan) to soldier on (as a civilian) through 2015 into the future.
All the best to the RallyPoint family in 2015!

Happy New Year to you and yours SFC Drake!!! I am not one who is big on resolutions, but I will do my best to continue to improve my foxhole the best I can as we move into the New Year. Personally, I will be completing the last few classes to complete my Bachelor's Degree. Looking forward to closing that chapter. Professionally, we will be moving from Belgium to Germany this summer. I am hoping to put a Diamond on one more time so we shall see. Best wishes!!!

Thanks brother. The Fort Knox area is on our "short list" for retirement locations. I spent a lot of time there before I reclassed, I met my wife there, we were married at the Post Chapel, and most of her family still live around the area.

Hmmm, great question. This year will be my first whole year as a civilian since 1990. Since retiring last year, I have been struggling with losing part of my identity as an active duty service-member. Many will say service should not define you but I disagree. My career spanning 23 years has helped me to grow into a more mature and experienced adult and helps to define who I am overall.
With that said, my goals for this new year are: to be a better husband to my wife; to further guiding, mentoring and teaching my two sons into adulthood; to further my education through schooling eventually earning my degree; continuing to learn about our past in order to further develop our future; to eliminating the bulk of my financial debt and achieving financial independence; to be a better mentor to those still serving in our great military; and, most importantly, to better listen to God and follow His plans for my life.

SSG Redondo,
Thank you for your service, I like the last statement. I think if you start there first everything else will fall into place!

SFC A.M. Drake, most definitely. This past year was tough especially leaving the service, finding work to provide for my family as well as honor my own debts, and just moving forward. The Lord has blessed me in so many ways that I can't count. My faith in Him is first and foremost for me since I know He will ALWAYS love me and answer prayers as appropriate.
