The last time Israeli PM Netanyahu was here Obama didn't see too pleased about it.

Now Obama is inviting Netanyahu to the White house.

Thus far, I have had the feeling that Obama is not fond of Israel and Netanyahu. Wonder why he's all of the sudden feeling cordial?

Ok...I don't know why I always have one miss spelled word in my headlines. Why does this keep happening.?

Obama's done an enormous amount for Israel. He's probably not fond of Netanyahu, no, but that's never stopped him.

The last time around, he specifically said he would happily invite the Israeli PM after the Israeli elections, which is POLICY to avoid interfering with said elections. Lo and Behold, Bebe used his little talk before congress as a campaign ad.

Except President Truman's recognition of Israel when it was first formed, no other President has done more for the Jewish State. This fact is often lost in the din of President Obama's presumed hatred for Israel.

CPT Ahmed Faried, surely you can't be serious. Obama has been the most hostile of any U.S. president towards Israel since Israel came into being.

Sgt Kelli Mays - Sergeant; One of the things that is almost certain to be on the agenda is Mr. Obama telling Mr. Netanyahu that the United States of America WILL NOT support a unilateral Israeli attack on Iran and WILL NOT veto any Security Council resolution condemning one.

The second thing on the agenda is likely to be Mr. Obama telling Mr.Netanyahu that the United States of America WILL defend Israel against any directly government sponsored attack on it.

Now that the Iranian government is officially on record as accepting that "The Holocaust" actually happened and also officially on record that "it shouldn't happen again" (Didn't you see that reported in your local media when it happened?) maybe we can start to stop confusing "The state of Israel will be eliminated." with "We are going to kill all the Jews.". After all, the United States of America has "eliminated" more than one "independent and sovereign country" without killing off all the inhabitants (think "Hawai'i" if you don't like thinking about the fact that many of the several Native American tribes had been recognized by the US government as independent and sovereign nations before their territory was wrested from them through military action so that the "Whites" could reap the benefits of that land).

This may be, but I don't trust Iran...they have never kept their word...and we or anyone else has not been onsite in any of their facilities since ???? around 2008 time frame...and they could already be way paste making/creating anything nuclear that we do not know of...this plus China and Russia will sell anything to anyone....if Iran decided to attack Israel...any help from US or anyone else will be too late.

This being said...hopefully, Iran won't be that stupid.

Sgt Kelli Mays - Sergeant; And you have every reason not to trust Iran after Iran overthrew the democratically elected government of the United States of America in order to impose an absolute monarchy on the US and then imposed sanctions on America when it tossed out that corrupt and brutal regime in order to form a government of Iranians, by Iranians, and for Iranians.

The Iranians, on the other hand, are well aware that the United States of America have never interfered in the internal affairs of another country and have not once in the past 250 years sent American troops into another country that hadn't actually declared war on the US.

COL Ted Mc - Iran overthrew the democratically elected gov of US?
I guess you are being facetious?
US never over threw IRAN...we were ok with IRAN when the Shah was in, but after iotollah khomeini took over there was NO relationship with IRAN...He wanted nothing to do with the WEST...he was totally religious fanatic and we really have not had a good relationship...
We have had agreements and or treaties with Iran...all of which Iran didn't follow the agreements...
....and like Iran hasn't metaled and interfered with other countries too.

Sgt Kelli Mays - Sergeant; Of course the US was "OK with Iran when the Shah was in". It was the US government that orchestrated and financed the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Iran that put the Shah in power as an absolute monarch.

Or didn't you know that?

And it was the US government that assisted Saddam Hussein in his eight year (1980 to 1988 [one year under President Carter {D} and seven years under President Reagan {R}]) war with Iran which included the use of poison gasses (which are WMDs) - supplied [either directly or through the provision of the technical knowledge required to produce them] by the US government) against the Iranians .

Or didn't you know that?

When you say "... and like Iran hasn't metaled and interfered with other countries too." you appear to be missing the point that the Iranians tend not to trust the United States of America because the US had meddled in the internal affairs of Iran as well as of other countries.

Can you name one country where the Iranian government has sent Iranian troops to prop up the regime of a corrupt, venal, and brutal dictatorship installed through the machinations of the Iranian "Central Intelligence Agency"?

MCPO Roger Collins - Master Chief; Sarcastically meant or not, you may well be more correct than you think you are.

The NEED FOR IRAN to START a war has been massively decreased.

The REWARDS FOR OTHER COUNTRIES arising from starting a war WITH Iran have also been massively decreased.

I'm sure there will be some friction but we have been allied with Israel for many different administration. If Israel Killing 34 Americans and wounding 171 onboard USS Liberty didn't destroy our relationship, this latest Politics wont. There will be some Posturing then the obligatory handshakes. They count on us to help fund their Socialist Welfare State and that isn't going to change soon.

This happened long ago....if we held grudges then we should not be allies with Japan and Germany, Russia and other countries...by the way this youtube vieo by BBC says it happened in 1965, however the many other articles I've read shows it was 1967

Sgt Kelli Mays - Sergeant;

[1] One of the "unfortunate facts" that has to be dealt with when coming to grips with "Eastern" cultures is that those cultures DO "hold grudges" - sometimes for multiple centuries.

[2] The United States of America is not "allied" to Russia (a country which has never sent combat troops to invade the United States of America in support of toppling the government of the country [which the United States of America cannot say it has not done to Russia]).

[3] The Israeli attack on the USS LIBERTY commenced at 1357 (Z) on 08 JUN 67 and ended at 1420 (Z) on 08 JUN 67.
