I have been dealing with my mental health more seriously since i had some issues that made me ready to take my life. Since then i have been going to my local VA (before covid) now i do speak to my counselor every 3 weeks. My question is where outside of the va facilities can i also find help or just someone to talk to that may understand what im dealing with, any suggestions all are welcomed.

Hi, it sounds like you're going through a difficult time, and we are so glad you've reached out for support.

Our national network of military family clinics provides accessible, confidential mental health care for veterans (and military family members!) dealing with a variety of concerns.

All of our Cohen Clinics offer support via telehealth - confidential, online video therapy - so it's easy to still get care safely from home during the pandemic. We have 17 clinic locations - and counting. Find a Cohen Clinic near you : cohenveteransnetwork.org/clinics

If you are no longer in the service, you can go to your civilian chaplain. You speak with civilian therapists outside of the VA. That is just two of them off the top of my head.

Other than just going to your local va where else can you go to seek help for mental health help?

SPC Chris Early - hey there. There are a few possibilities.

Give an Hour is free to military, veterans, & first responders. From your post this might be your best resource.

Best wishes.

SPC Chris Early there is always the crisis line for immediate assistance:
then press 1

Local MH and VA both have crisis counselors available 24/7

There are also good people here on RP who will talk with you if you connect with them. Feel free to message me if I can be of any assistance...Nancy
