We Have Delta, Seals, Marsoc, and PJ's I will put my money on them any day. Not to mention the other compounds on Bragg that we were told to stay the hell away from at all costs.

1LT Nick Kidwell While I'd never thought of comparing our fine privateers to the behemoth of spec ops...I'll live with it!

PO1 (Join to see) They were contract military and they pretty much did their own thing, right?

Blackwater during OIF.

1LT Nick Kidwell Those privateers were often pirates but were offered small things like: amnesty for prior known attacks against U.S. shipping, etc. Additionally, the ships and crew were provided a "Letter of Marque" that instructed U.S. military and shipping vessel Masters and Captains to assist these privateers if possible but if not possible then to not hinder the privateer on their way. The "Letter of Marque" also specified which shipping and military vessels were "fair game" and which shipping and military vessels were "off limits" to attack, etc.

So, yes, these privateers were basically our first "contractors" as it were.

Well...in a man-to-man fight, clearly the ninjas have the advantage. But I'll take the pirate quality of life any day.

Depends. If I'm in a fight, I want a ninja on my side. If I'm choosing a career, I'll take pirate...tropical islands, drinking rum, wenches...
