As if the act of murder wasn't bad enough, the end of the video shows him handcuffing the victim... who may have been still alive, and walking away. Watching how care free he was about the whole thing, including walking away at the end, leads me to believe that this isn't the kind of thing a good cop just did on a bad day. I imagine that this police officer has victimized people to various degrees throughout his entire career. How his peers on the force have not done anything about it is a little worrisome. Law enforcement do so much good in this country, it's so unfortunate to see this be how they are perceived by so many.

Very bad press for Law Enforcement lately..........sad. I'm not seeing the 3 controlling factors being utilized.

I do not know all the exenuauting circumstances, it appears this man was a major threat to society, and could not be let free. (From a police perspective) power corrupts, absolute power, absolutely corrupts.

What I don't understand is this: why in a fleeing criminal scenario, do officers not fire at the legs, feet or knees, clearly in this case, he was no longer a threat.

This is a white cop killing a black man and this cop will never have a fair trial in many states, in my opinion.

Just like any profession, there are good doctors, attorneys, mechanics, baristas, and there are probably just as many bad ones as well.
Call me a cynic, I've been called worse.

Do I think it was murder? It sure as hell looked ominious, and whatever he did with his tazer seems a bit devious. I could have been the man on the ground, face down, I'd want justice as well, if it were me. Guess you're no longer safe to run from the police.

Have you ever qualified with an M9 (or any other service pistol)? A pistol is not a precision instrument, especially against moving targets. You are more likely to miss if you aim at legs, feet, etc and hit something you didn't intend to than if you simply shot for center mass. Remember, cops are taught to shoot center mass just like we are.

I understand the ins and outs of the shooting the pistol and when aiming at a moving target, the odds are about 21%. The pistol has always proven to be accurate to me, it is the shooter that makes the errors.

Yes, I shot expert every time on static targets as well as pop-ups...from this video it looks like he emptied the magazine, before the man fell.

1:6 odds, his accuracy was....not so good.

I agree that this is indeed a murder case. I'm also weary of convicting someone when you can only see part of this story. I find it interesting that the video suddenly starts when the suspect ends the struggle and runs away, and before you can see what all he has reached for. I've seen other videos with similar one sided videos. The body cameras seem to be a good cross-reference is situations like this. This officer made a terrible decision. I just hope we don't continue to incriminate all officers because of a few that broke strict ROEs. Just like the military, we all get a bad name when one stray decides to not follow the rules.

The answers available didn't cover the spectrum. Murder by police is rare, but it doesn't mean it's not really a problem. This is one of those topics where the right answer is zero...as in, it can NEVER be allowed to happen.

Sir, is it rare or does it go unreported, covered up or explained away with contrived evidence and prejudicial witnesses?
Fact: What is indeed factually rare, is the number of Law Enforcement Officers who have been tried for murder in the line of duty.

I agree with you COL Jean (John) F. Burleson , I do not see how they will get out of this one. But can you explain why the non shooting officer was not charged when he was present when the shooting officer was making it look like the man shot had a taser and the non shooting police man allowed the shooting man to tamper with evidence at the scene and he did not do his duty to try to administer first aide? To me that seems like the non shooting officer was adding and abading the shooting officers work. No where in the news or videos see where that other police man got in any trouble for just standing back watching it happen. Would I trust the 2nd officer? no I think he should at least get a suspension or something. These police officer risk lives every day but they need to have clear judgement and not let their badge think they can even commit murder. If a citizen were to shoot someone and another party be involved in being there they would get charged the same as a robbery an innocent driver in many cases have given people rides and people rob the place and are held for driving the get away car. This seems like the same situation to me with these to cops.

CPT Ahmed Faried Murder is a legal determination, and that charge has been made as COL Jean (John) F. B. pointed out it may be. Good/bad shoot is an ROE/EOF evaluation. I'm not qualified to judge the legal charges, I've done some ROE and EOF stuff, I was commenting on what I know. If you took it as a snub of someone's humanity I apologize for giving that impression.

Capt Richard I P. , I appreciate the response. But "good shoot" and "bad shoot" is also an LEA term. I'll admit I became a bit peeved at its application in this scenario. But it wasn't directed at you. I just want this to be called the murder it is, rather than the term that absolves it of all humanity.

I agree that, if it can be shown/proven that other officers failed to take appropriate action and/or tried to cover up what actually transpired, they should also be charged. I am sure that there will be a thorough investigation into the entire incident (with Obama Administration Justice Department oversight, which probably would not occur if the cop/victim races had been reversed). As a result, I am sure there will be additional charges and/or disciplinary action forthcoming.

Even though I believe an overwhelming majority of LEO's are doing great work, I had to vote other. Either because of social media, or because it's not as rare as I would hope, stories like this are in the media every week. So just as the military sometimes has to react to issues, SHARP and Suicide Prevention, there are enough people who perceive there is an issue with Law Enforcement that they have to do something.
I've had very few dealings personally with Police Officers. As a NYC resident I've been 'stop and frisked' over a half dozen times, four times in one month once. And only one of those were the Officers rude, and after all of them I was let go without an issue.
Public perception of the Police is bad because instead of seeing them as people who Serve and Protect, people see them as a ticketing agency. Add on top of it these race, and violence issues, and something has to change.

Only one thing troubles me. The officer is said to have used a tasser. And the it seems the man fleeing had the tasser from all appearances it seems murder. Just would like to see what happened.

PV2 Violet Case so you don't get your head bit off. I think the term is black now but most of us prefer African American.

There is a lot that this video does not show I don't know what lead up to that. It does not look very good for the officer but there are a lot of details missing from the video so I will hold my judgment of was this right or wrong until I have more facts.

SGT. may i say with respect that the video shows all. It shows the murder , and the planting of a weapon in order to cover-up the killing. Now i ask you , how would you feel if that nice looking , pretty face PO killed someone you care about. Was let off the hook after claiming the victim punched the PO hard in the face and broke his eye socket. So the Officer fired his weapon because he feared for his life. Than after a year the video popped up containing the truth.

It's OK , it's good . Better than not speaking your mind. But i don't really understand just what your not sure of in the case. Your not required to do Detective work on the matter. Just look at the video , see what the Police Brass have done in response to the Officers actions. And you come up with what ??.. (You come up with what you just said. Your not sure ) . Get better glasses.
