I agree with what the President said. Campaigns are nothing but everyone screams, makes ridiculous promises, then fail to follow up. I especially agree with this portion of his speech - "In the echo chamber that is presidential politics, everything is dark and everything is terrible," he said. "They don't seem to offer many solutions to the disasters they perceive, but they're quick to tell you who to blame. There's nothing particularly patriotic or American about talking down America, especially when we stand as one of the few sources of economic strength in the world."

PVT James Strait SSgt Alex Robinson It was the President. i don't agree with a lot of what he says and does but I also do not think he is a terrible President or an enemy or wants us all praying towards Mecca five times a day. I think overall he has done a pretty good job considering what he was handed and the circumstances of the world. I just liked this speech and though it made a lot of sense. The Democrats will do the same thing when they start cranking up.

SGT William Howell PO1 Tony Holland I liked President Reagan a lot. I joined when he was President and in my opinion he brought the US Military back from a dangerous place. George W. Bush, meh. Below average. Carter, also unimpressive. I think Obama is better than Carter.

I would say that JFK was the better President who exhibited the traits that I associate with a real military leader.

He is lawless in my my book. No where in the constitution does it say the president can chose which laws he wants to enforce

SFC Joseph Weber I joined under Reagan too. I 100% agree with your rankings. It may change with this Iran deal, but it is going to take a couple years for them to build a bomb and hopefully we can get a President in that will fix that mess before Israel or NYC gets hit with a nuke.

He's right, but at the same time, he's also one of the very folks he's criticizing. He did it when he was initially running for office. It's not pretty and is really petty on all sides, but a price to pay for being someone that wants higher office. Everyone wants to be the leader until it's time to do the leader sh*t. That's when we'll see the grown ups from the children with big mouths.

Everyone before they get in office make a lot of promises (the president) also did this, then they sit down with the out going pres and gets to see the black binder on why he cannot deliver on over half of what they promised. In the end until there is a super majority no president will be able to keep there campaign promises.

I don't know if even then. Some Presidents in the past have had sizable majorities and done great things, some not so much.

Politics aside, do you agree with President Obama's comments?

He may be speaking the truth - but every election cycle, the opposing party usually pulls the "doom and gloom" rhetoric. He should know, he used it in 2007/8.

I agree with the sentiment he expressed but disagree with his other acts and words which seem to be the exact opposite of what he suggests.

Obama obviously did a lot of the same things he is criticizing during his campaigns; he wanted to win. Now that he is a lame duck president, he doesn't have to worry about polls or getting re-elected. The result is that he can speak a little bit of truth. As someone posted, there is no doubt that the dems will do the same thing before long. After all, they too are politicians, but that is why he used the relatively neutral term "Presidential politics."

Politics aside, no, I don't agree with the President or the Democratic leadership. There have been many valid alternatives offered by the opposition and yet the President et al can't seem to hear them (actually they ignore them). They rub salt into the wound by repeatedly commenting that no one is willing to discuss the issues while many hands are in the air begging recognition. For example, they referred to the GOP as "The Party of No" despite the fact that GOP members of Congress offered countless sound alternatives to such issues as how to fix healthcare. They claimed that the GOP denied there were problems in healthcare while I have heard the GOP complain since the 1960s that something had to be done.

No, the only echoes I hear are a President and his sycophants extolling his virtues as a political messiah while ignoring everyone else (including their own supporters)...

CPT Jack. I understand Harry Reid held over 300 bills on his desk when he was majority leader in the Senate. He refused to let the Republican Bills on the floor. That is to much power for one man.

It's too easy to claim "success" when you establish your own barometer for it at the exclusion of any dissent.

I would tend to agree with his statements, as evidenced by all his promises made and broken. He set a new record, The real problem is the promises kept have been devastation to our nation as all metrics are considered.
