While at a military base I am found to be sharing a barracks with females. All rooms are separated and have locking doors. The issue is that since I was a young joe I have found a great appreciation for silkies, aka Ranger Panties. I rock them out as we wind down the duty day. I have never had an issue as being in the infantry. Now that females are in the same building I was advised that they may not be the best option for my evening attire in the barracks.

When the impending absorption of women in combat arms while should we know have to change the standard for the ones that are maintaining the standard? I am sure if SSG V. Michelle Woods was there wouldn't even blink an eye. Should it matter that there would be women around.

Enjoy your Ranger Panties and make sure you are not doing sit ups in the day room. LOL

I would never. That would not be right. I only do the knee and ankle rotation with them.

As already stated they are no different than many running shorts you see at any given run event. So I'm all about them!

I like to refer to them as Daisy Dukes of Freedom.

No, there should be no issue (as long as you are or were a Ranger). I still rock my green silkies from the Marine Corps and my UDT (Magnum PI) shorts whenever I get a chance. I feel it is a rite of passage to be able to wear these items.

I am ranger qualified. I wouldn't want to be that guy.

That in itself is a fashion faux pas with or w/o gender mingling. Reminds me of some big goombah on the beach in Speedos.

As a tanker I have never worn them. I have been around rangers even worked with soldiers at staff level who were ranger tabbed living in mixed gender barracks and never heard any complaints from anyone. They a little tame compared to some clothing choices I have seen by soldiers of both genders and even civilians on base during off duty hours

These were like the first AF PT uniform and I used to laugh my ass off. But over time people started wearing spandex by choice.
