Briefly, I reupped for 6 years in Jan 2022. My new ETS is Jan 2028 which makes my window Jan 2027...
If i were to come down on orders PCS, Drill, Rec, Etc. prior to that (we all know I will. Probably early 2025.) Can I sign a DEC statement that far out? Ive only seen them used within the reenlistment window... Since ill still be close to 2 years away from it, can I still decline those orders and sign a DEC all the same.?

You can't decline an assignment, you can only decline to reenlist. If you meet the SRR for an assignment you will proceed to those orders. If not, you must reenlist or decline to reenlist. The SRR for Drill is two years, the SRR for recruiting is three years

Didnt know that you could decline the assignment. Exactly one of the answers I needed. However to add to that, if my remaining service does not meet the time requirement, what would happen in that scenario? An old SL of mine reupped for his drill time. Didnt think to ask at the time what would have happened if her didnt. Would you just fulfill the time you do have left?

SSG (Join to see) you can't decline the assignment, you can only decline to reenlist. Once you decline you can be placed on a different assignment or maybe just left alone

SGM Frazer is on it. As for a Dec statement that isn’t going t happen as you have way too much time remaining on your current enlistment.
Not sure why you reenlisted while not being willing to support the needs of the military. You hold up your end of the bargain by service, they hold up theirs with pay and benefits and the opportunity of a lifetime. Soldier up’s do enjoy the experience.

I am willing. If it comes down to pcsing then so be it. Im just trying to stay if possible & figure out how to do that. Ive had an amazing 5 years thus far & so many opportunities. My time in has been nothing short of great if im being honest. Not much to complain about unlike many others.

Staying on 1 Post-possible depends on the MOS, but not always likely. HRC want to broaden your education and experience, Don't worry about signing anything till it actually comes up/

I've been here for over 5 years already and will be at about 7.5 when my YMAV comes around and I get orders. I don't want this taken the wrong way, but I'm not concerned about broadening assignments, promotions, etc. Just trying to finish up my time. I'm just wondering if signing a dec that far out is even possible or if I would have to move. I have a family, so I'd rather know my options ahead of time. I've just never seen a dec statement signed so far out, only within a year usually of that soldiers ETS date.

No big deal, in fact I don't think you can sign a Dec statement until you have orders or notification from HRC. Crap with the exception of Ranger Bn I spent total of 14-15 yrs in same regiment at FBNC

SGM Bill Frazer I understand that, I was more looking into the future anyways so I understand more when that time comes. Im happy where im at & with what ive done in the army thus far, just trying to stay where im at as long as possible. Trying to “cheat the system” if you will. I have many friends that have come & gone 2-3 times & yet im still here & never left. Id like to keep it that way if I can.
