From: The Bakersfield Californian

The man traveled to Bakersfield early Sunday in the belief he’d be spending time with the woman he loved.

But when he arrived at her south Bakersfield residence, three men wearing hockey masks punched, kicked and choked him to the point of passing out, according to police documents. The woman listened to the beating from a back bedroom.

The documents say the defendants — including Sergio Medina, the woman’s husband — are infantrymen in the U.S. Marine Corps. Medina, 20, Rodrigo Sanchez, 19, and Leonardo Ortiz, 19, have pleaded not guilty to charges including kidnapping with bodily injury and robbery, and are being held on $500,000 bail.

The victim was interviewed by police Sunday morning. He said he had arrived in the 2800 block of Lee Drive after receiving a Snapchat message from Diana Reyes, whom he met in 2012 and with whom he’d once been romantically involved.

The man said they talked often on social media about her marital troubles, according to the documents filed in Kern County Superior Court. She’d been trying to get him to come to Bakersfield, and he arrived at her home about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

When he parked nearby, he received a Snapchat message saying, “Come in the door is unlocked,” the documents say. The man entered the home and was approached by three men in hockey masks who immediately began beating him.

They forced him to the ground and bound his wrists with zip ties, the documents say. Then they placed a belt around his neck, and the man told police he struggled so hard to breathe he nearly lost consciousness.

The documents say one of the men, whom the others called “Sergio,” asked him what he was doing at the house. He told him he was there to meet Reyes, and Sergio asked if he knew she was married.

The man said he believed she was getting a divorce and he was in love with her. The men laughed at him.

They held him captive for about 30 minutes, and released him after taking items including his cellphone and wallet, the documents say. They threatened to kill him.

“We know where your family lives and have your driver’s license, so don’t go to the cops,” the man said his assailants told him.

The defendants and Reyes followed the man as he drove from the neighborhood, the documents say. The man eventually parked at a 7-Eleven near Real Road and punched his vehicle’s OnStar button for medical assistance.

Police were contacted after he was taken to a hospital with injuries including an orbital fracture with his left eye swollen shut, bruising to his head and entire body, and swelling to his head and neck. The documents say abrasions were visible on his wrists and neck.

Police soon stopped Medina in a vehicle, and found Sanchez and Ortiz at a residence in the 5500 block of Monitor Street.

Medina admitted to assaulting the man, and he helped police locate some of the stolen items, according to the documents. He told investigators he had already destroyed the man’s cellphone, and police found other items had been partly burned.

Reyes told investigators that Medina told her to stay in a back bedroom shortly before the victim arrived, the documents say. She said she heard the men pummeling the victim.

Reyes said she and the victim never had sex, but she once kissed him while her husband was on deployment, the documents say. She also told detectives her husband knows her Snapchat password.

I'm sorry but no cheating woman is worth prison and the loss of your military status. She cheated once, she'll cheat again. Get rid of her and find one you can trust. Besides, the guy who goes with the woman isn't really at fault. She's the one who made the promise to be faithful.

Even then. The woman is 100% at fault because SHE chose to break her vows, not the clown trying to get with her. A faithful person will never break their vows, period, single dude is a douche bag, but he isn't to blame for her infidelity.

I know as a former officer, the party line is that these guys are totally out of line. But, the warrior in me says fuck that asshole, he got what he deserved. They should have tossed the worthless trick out on her ass next to Jody and told him since he wants her so much, take care of ass. Let this also be a lesson, seek solid women with good morals. If she's a slut, she'll be a slut to someone else. Not saying it was right but, I understand.

Lt. Joseph Jones, I did not have a problem with Medina going 1 v 1 against the guy who was screwing his wife, but he dragged down two of his fellow Marines with him in his stupidity. Maybe I am old school, but where is the Honor in a three in one Bushwack/Ambush situation? As LTC Labrador, points out, what he did took planning and he had time to change course, and as we say in the Navy and Marine Corps, avoid the rocks and the shoals of his poorly thought out plan. If Medina had put an honorable beat down on a dishonorable, lower than whale shit at the bottom of the sea, fungus of a man, than none of us here would be talking about it. Instead they did what they did, and now three lives are ruined, over a cheating ho of a spouse, and her equally worthless lover. I think this story hit a raw nerve with everyone who has had a wife or GF cheat on him, and from some of the comments I have read on this thread, it aint bringing out the best in most of us.

I believe that your point of view is a terrifyingly PC programming inserted into your doctrinal life as an officer. I do not presume to say what I would or wouldn't do to this Jody, what I can say is he very well deserved it. Since men fail in this day and age to have any real sense of honor there really is only one way to teach them. Pain is still a terribly effective way. I doubt this Jody will be as inclined to challenge the system next time and maybe even more less likely to pursue the wife of a marine knowing what might again lay in store for him. I salute Medina's sacrifice event if I do not condone it.

PO2 (Join to see) - So you down voted me because you think I'm PC programmed due to being an officer? Well maybe it's just I expect better behavior out of service members instead of acting like a bunch of punk thug gangsters. Again, my issues isn't that he beat down some POS he assumes is cheating with his wife in the heat of he moment. If it was simply that, I'd have no issues with it. Nor is this an issue of whether that dude "deserved it " or not. My issue is that this was a meticulously planned event that the guys KNEW was wrong (as evidenced that they wore masks so they wouldn't be ID'd and caught) but did anyways KNOWING it was wrong. THAT is what is inexcusable and IS NOT an honorable act. And as a junior NCO YOU should be concerned by that behavior as well. Ethics is not PC, and not just an officer thing. And by saluting it, you ARE condoning it....

It is a tough discussion as officers, the lad put his reporting seniors in a tight spot for judgement either way you gents read it.. As a senior enlisted for either of you I would back your decision either way.. I myself would have guided the him as to not allow either of you to be put in that situation where you have to decide..

Best advice is never even get into a serious relationship or get married while in the Marine Corps... that was stressful enough without wondering if my wife or girl was fucking someone else

Exactly. Military life is for single, unwed types. Settle down when you get out, but not while you are in. My Drill Sergeant told us that.

The moral of the story is.. Don't mess around with a married woman. Especially when you are messing around with a Marine's wife.. This situation has echoed through the ages long before a bunch of hippy ass lefties decided to write a story to make this asshole the victim. Screw a soldier's wife, accept the beating from his brothers when you are found out.. It is called big boy rules.. If this fucktard was a Soldier or a Marine.. He would know why he got his ass beat

This woman sounds like what we used to call "Buckle bunnies" around Ft Cartoon....I mean Ft Carson. I caught one that I had been living with, with another soldier from my own battalion screwing on my living room couch. The only reason I didn't end both of them that night, was because my POW's were in NC. Instead, I gave him 30 seconds to get out of my apartment, and gave her 2 hours to pack her shit and get out. I occasionally have to stop myself, and remember....I do NOT look good in orange, or in black and white stripes.

Respect another man's home and the problems don't exist. He knew she was married and her husband was on deployment. A total lack of respect
