Hi I'm Jenni Heagy, Shon's Girlfriend. I'm Not Sure If You All Know This, But Shon Hill Pasted Away In The Early Morning Of July 5th. He Got Hit By A Train. her is the story from the news paper about it: Http://Www.Thedalleschronicle.Com/News/2014/Jul/08/Man Dies When Struck Train/. I Know That He Reached Out To You All For Help Or Advice Here Or There. And I Really Appreciate It. It Seemed To Help Him Cope With The Troubles That He Was Going Through, With PTSD Mostly. I Know He Struggled With It Everyday. I Just Found His Dd 214 And Hopefully Soon We Can Get The Ball Rolling For A Memorial Service. I Know He'll Want To Be Laid At Rest In Eagle Point, Oregon. I Just Wanted To Thank You All For Serving And I'm Sorry That You Have To Deal With The Va...They Really Suck. Thank You For Giving Him Advice On Many Topics That He Struggled With. God Bless You All! Jenni Heagy"

As a token of my respect for Shon I am sending flowers to his service in our name … it seems only fitting to embrace every member in that display of respect since many here reached out to him, interacted with him, conversed with him, and planned with him to improve his situation. For any who want to know there will be a public memorial service for Shon Hill on August 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery 2763 Riley Rd. Eagle Point, Oregon 97524.

I am grateful to Shon for the courage and fortitude he exhibited that gives me ample reason to continue supporting my battle buddies in any way I am able.

My condolences. It's a tragedy and PTS (I deliberately drop the disorder because shrink friends of mine do not believe it is a disorder - it is stress we need to work through) is something we as a nation better address sooner rather than later. We have a generation of young men and women who deserve better. God Bless

Thank you. Yes, I agree! All the brothers/sisters in arms and the next generation do deserve better. I just wish that it would change so they can get what they deserve. I posted a ribbon on here that is for PTSD/TBI, not only for Shon, but for all who suffer with this battle. God Bless.

I found this on Face book tonight and thought that we all could use this prayer... It's been one week, last Saturday on the dot, that Shon passed away. Maybe that's why I haven't been able to sleep yet, who knows.

Jenni, I am so sorry for your loss, I will pray for the repose of his soul. I am so sorry that he was not able to get the help that he so desperately needed and wanted. I feel and I think most veterans feel that they wish that they could have done more.

I wish that I could've done more as well. But I didn't know how or what to do. Maybe I wasn't doing enough, or to much. I don't know. I guess I won't know until I see him again. I tried to make him comfortable with back rubs, a shoulder to cry on, and time to himself when he needed to be alone, maybe that was the worst thing i could've done. Parts of me blames myself for not trying harder, but I felt lost on confused on how to deal with this since I've never had to deal with PTSD in any relationships before Shon. I blame myself for not being there with him and I feel guilty for him being there by himself and dying alone...maybe I could've stopped it....i dunno, I'll never know. I kept praying for his safety to come back home to me. But I guess God had other plans for him or my prayers weren't heard? All I know is, this really truly sucks balls!!

Jenni:

Never blame yourself for what happened. I know it is difficult not to, but believe me when I say this is not your fault! Welcome to the community, if you need help you can reach out to any one of us. Most of us have been there and done that, so we can speak from personal experiences. We all care and you are not alone. God bless you and keep you.

Sincerely

Listen to me very carefully! In my 36 years on this planet I learned this: there will always be people who are a challenge. They may not even realize it, but their actions touch others around them. Some touch positively, others touch negatively.

Going through your posts, I have confirmed that YOU DID ALL YOU COULD DO FOR HIM. You're not super-human, nor God. At certain point in life you have to be wise to LET GO AND LET GOD handle the rest.

One of my best friends is into God and spirituality. His brother CHOSE of drugs and crime. It cost him his life. It cost everyone, including me, grief, sorrow, and disappointment. He failed to see how his actions were affecting others. He touched everyone in a not-so-positive manner. But we found means to move on.

They say time heals, but it truly does, especially if you KNOW that you did all you could for him. Please do not continue lingering in grief and sorrow wishing you could've done something for him. Remember he's in a better place now where there's no more sorrow, pain, or grieving.

Find strength within you to pick up where you left from and continue living. Go out, make friends, start new relationships. YOUR CONSCIENCE IS CLEAR. PROTECT IT.

Now go make YOUR LIFE meaningful to others around you. And don't forget to give praise where praise is due.

I'm having a better day today, and I will have my ups and downs. I believe God will carry me through this, I just need time for grief. The hard part is missing all the small stuff that he use to do, and learning how to do things for one person again. That's going to be the hard part. I'm glad that he is not in pain and suffering anymore, I really am. I just wish that I could've held him a little longer before he left the house that day he left to go down south, but I can't change that, I can't change anything. His service is going to be the day that is going to be the hardest out of all of this for me. But, I will live my life and hopefully be happy again, as he would want me to be. He will always live in my heart for the rest of my life, he was the best thing that happened to me even with his own wars. Thank you, for pointing out and showing me that I did my best to help him, sometimes I think I didn't or couldn't. But now looking back, I know I did with God's help. All I can do now, is know that I'll see him again when it's my turn to leave this horrible world that we call home...only God knows when that will be. As for right now, I'm numb and still processing everything. I'm glad that I have you all on here, my family, Shon's family, and our friends to help me and support me.

Has anyone posted a link to his comments up until this event? I've seen him posting a number of times, but not sure how to pull up those posts.

Man, this is heart wrenching. I lost a close Air Force friend to PTSD. We have to do something to help our heroes. PTSD has to be taken seriously and treated accordingly!!
