Wondering what people know on sgm Perry McNeil. I personally served with him years ago. They claimed he wore a ranger tab and went through ranger school as well as pathfinder. I never once saw him for years wear either one of them.. figured that some of you guys might have recently served with him. People have been bashing him and honestly it's disgusting in my opinion.

He may have been an outstanding NCO when you served with him, hell he may still be an outstanding NCO. The fact of the matter is he was tried under a Summary Court Martial and found guilty of falsifying official documents, wearing unauthorized awards, and lying. He wasn't given a "bad rap", he was investigated and found guilty.
I personally do not know him but, he brought all the bashing on himself. He did not live up to the Army Values and his character is in serious question. How many NCOs did not get selected for promotion because his record looked better than theirs so, he was selected over them? He went against everything that NCOs are supposed to be, blatantly ignoring the NCO Creed and Army Values.
Personally, I think he got off light on the punishment. He doesn't deserve to continue being a NCO.

I've talked to a few of his soldier from ada at ft hood... they all claimed he never once was seen wearing it. That's what get me. Someone stated he has pissed off the battalion cdr and that's why it happened. Proof of it idk. Fact remains, he was a great NCO but was it truth or made up to kick someone else out? Not saying people did anything illegal, but after seeming the things ADA has done, makes me truly wonder what actually happened.

I think CSM (Join to see) got all the important points except one.
It's what's inside the uniform that counts, not what's on it.
A badge never packed a parachute, or did JMPI, or fixed a rerouted static line, or taught marksmanship, or counseled someone to become a better soldier, or stood on the wall between our country and the barbarians.

Yet "a badge" signifies the wearer did in fact do something that was pretty special, that is why "the badge" was made.

SGM (Join to see) PFC Michael Carlisle CSM (Join to see) Some may think he is a "Great" NCO, however, he lacks in judgement and that severly detracts from whatever other qualities he has... He was convicted of wrongfully wearing the Ranger tab and Pathfinder badge and for knowingly including in his ERB the false information that he graduated from Ranger School in 1994. He may be a good NCO but I would not trust him and he doesn't think much of himself. Why else would he try to be something he isn't? Was it truth or made up to kick someone else out? These kind of things are impossible to make up! He got caught and nobody should be sticking up for him or making up excuses for him!

I think that certain people are being targeted as part of the draw down.
Just look at all the reliefs going on these days. I have a hard time believing that all these people are as bad as what is being reported.

According to the charges he wore both the Ranger Tab and the Pathfinder Badge wrongfully and without authority on multiple occasions: on or between March 4, 2011, and Feb. 28, 2014. It also says he submitted an official record to the Centralized Selection List Board for the fiscal year Active Component and U.S. Army Reserve Active Guard Reserve Brigade/Battalion Command Sergeant Major and Key Billet Sergeant Major Board, a falsified enlisted record brief stating he had graduated from Ranger School in 1994.

Bad rep and not living the army values. Why a crock of bullshit. That is all the army values are. All NCOs do whatever they have to in order to get ahead. They all lie they all cheat they all steal.
No one here can tell me they have never seen falsified paperwork on a chapter.
McNeill did wear the ranger tab in 03 when he wa my platoon sergeant. But you have never met a more honorable and professional NCO than him.
Ok he fucked up. Well maybe someone loss some paperwork. It doesn't matter. Anytime court martial proceedings are brought against you it's more likely your going to lose.

Look man, McNeil wasn't a scout... he had been ADA his entire career. So that first and foremost shows you're a liar. Second, you may say what you want about NCOs but SOME OF US actually gave a fuck about our troops and one another. I personally got busted down for assaulting a fellow NCO that had attacked a soldier off post, what happened to him you wonder? He kept his rank, because he was 1sgs pet and friend... I stayed in still following the mentoring I got from NCOs and carried my self as a SGT STILL WHILE WEARING PFC for 2 years before I got out. Don't you dare sit on your fat ass and complain that everyone is the fucking same. You have an issue you an NCO pull them to the side and discuss the issue in your off time, don't go on social media and slander NCOs everywhere you scrum.

Hey SGT Joshua Sones - Yeah that's exactly what I did - I googled "fuck-up" and your name popped-up.

As a former enlisted officer, who has been around the US Army for 40 years, I disagree with a wholesale stereotypical of any group. NCOS kept me afloat as a new 2LT until I retired 30 years later. I still work with outstanding NCOs today. There are dishonest people in any group, but when a Soldier lies, someone can die. That is why integrity is so important in our chosen profession. Professional Soldiers recognize that level of importance and will try to rehabilitate or weed out the weeds in our Army. It is not instantaneous or complete, but usually it happens.

Sorry, SGT Joshua Sones, but I never falsified any paperwork. Yes, NCOs steal (at least we did) but it was only supplies for the unit. (And if the other unit needed the paint, or mops, or vehicle parts, etc they should have locked them up.)
But CHEAT is pure wrong, if you expect the guy in the foxhole next to you to cover your a$$ when you are at the sharp end. And LIE is just about as bad. Personal honor and personal integrity are important, when you're putting your life in your buddy's hands and have his in yours. About the only thing close to falsified was straining to give a positive rate-able comment on an NCOER.
