Should a PT instructor perform the exercises as well?

When I lead PT I love to show the soldiers that I can perform the exercises as well. However, there is a certain NCO in my unit that never performs any of the exercises when it's his turn to lead it. Am I just being too Hooah, or is he is in the wrong. Sorry, but this bothers me.

SFC (Join to see) yes, the PI should leads the exercises. The AI will make corrections. If you both are squared away, you can switch every so often and get your reps in. Especially if you’re executing PRT IAW FM 7-22. But come on down to the DSA, we’ll help you understand PRT, fully.

We rarely do PT according to any regs. It's just good solid calisthenics and running.

SFC (Join to see) innthat case, I can’t be upset with an individual not participating in the physical activity because the element itself is operating outside of regulatory guidance. Therefore, on what grounds could you say he’s not exemplifing the standard when there is element has already set the precedence of not following one?
I encourage you not totake my reply as an attack, but how can he not be “hooah” enough as an Army Leader when it comes to physical readiness if the unit has decided that it isn’t “hooah” enough to follow the Army’s doctrine for physical readiness?
In the end, be the leader you would want to follow and don’t worry about him so long as his actions aren’t illegal, immoral, unethical, or unsafe.

I've seen PT leaders but never an "instructor" who taught us the best ways to exercise.

I completely agree with your sentiment concerning leaders conducting all PT exercises when leading. Just like any other training which NCOs provide to their Joes we should be the example and lead from the front. I have found NCOs which are unwilling to perform the must basic of leadership roles usually are failing their subordinates in other ways. Thank you for being an outstanding leader and demonstrating to your Joes what a leader truly is.
