Sgt Tom Cunnally - Sergeant; Personally I'd prefer to see the President of the United States of America be "above party politics" the way that the Founding Fathers "originally intended".
However, that simply isn't going to happen (and hasn't been happening since [roughly] 1790).
Since it isn't going to be happening, I can live with "The party I belong to supports 'X' while the other party opposes it.".
Endorsing/condemning specific candidates, on the other hand, isn't something that I'm overly comfortable with.

Until someone else is elected he acts as the de facto head of party for the Democrats, as the senior ranking Democrat holding office.
As such, the R v D debate is well within his purview.

Sgt Jay Jones - Which Republican Presidents took cheap shots at the Dems when they were running for president ?? Curious minds would like to know.
Did you ever see Reagan, Bush 41 or Bush 43 go on late night TV and demean and degrade any Dems who were campaigning for President....Did you ever see their Press Secretaries spend hours at their new conferences say anything negative about the Dems ??

Sgt Tom Cunnally - First of all it is Bush 41 and Bush 43. Second Ronald Reagan said "I will never say anything bad about another Republican". Then he proceeded to slam Democrats.

Sgt Jay Jones - Thanx for the corrections for Bush 41 & Bush 43..I don't recall Reagan slamming Dems or if he did it was usually in jest..He got along great with Tip O'Neal who led the House forever and a very strong Dem
But what about Obama spending so much time on Public Radio or TV slamming the Repubs who want to succeed him...I doubt any Repub Presidents have done that..

There are a lot of briefings...but the problem is we don't pay attention well because so much information is being tossed at us...like drinking from a fire hose.

SMSgt Tony Banes I have to agree with you. From those that dislike President to those who support him. There is so much "garbage" on both sides and most of it is not true, but they originators of that "garbage" make it sound convincing. That's why you have research things for yourself and have more than one valid news source either in print of television.

Up until around a year and a half ago Obama still blamed Bush for his lack of success. He has never had diplomatic talks with Republicans. It's his Chicago politics, make the other people look bad to cover your inadequacies.

COL Ted Mc
MSG (Join to see) - Sergeant; Quite right. And wasn't that a disgraceful contrast to the mature and adult actions of President GW Bush and his supporters who "manned up" and "took ownership" of the situation while never once even remotely hinting that it was all Clinton's fault?

He has no class. He is desperate because he knows the Obamacare is very much at risk. That's what happens when you shove a bad product down the throats of America without one single vote.

SMSgt Tony Barnes - I take exception to the statement that President Obama has no class. If anything he has displayed more class than any president in the last 30 years. There is an abundance of disrespect thrown at the President Obama and he has always taken the high road. When was the last time you heard an U.S. Representative yell out "YOU LIE" during a State of the Union address, again disrespect. How about 47 Republican Senators going beyond their scope of authority and inviting the head of a foreign country to the United States with out consulting or informing the President of the United States. How about filing a law suit, which is totally unprecedented against the President, since they did not have enough evident or proof to be able to impeach him. When the leadership of the Republican Party tells it's House members to vote against anything he supports, even if it is good for the United States. NO CLASS!!!! I don't think so.

And let's not forget that the Affordable Care Act was voted on by the u.s. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. It passed both houses and went to the President and he signed it into law. Just as every other bill or amendment that has been passed into law.
What I don't understand is voting to overturn the Affordable Care Act over fifty (50) times with no success. Who was it that said the height of stupidity is to keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

He has no horse in this race, so his "attacks" are usually responses to the intense criticism the GOP candidates are using as a rallying point for support. When you've got nothing intelligent to say, just insult President Obama, and you're bound to win the hearts and minds of your Republican base.

SGT Jeremiah B. - Yes one & the same....also Tim Ryan claims it was nearly impossible to work with Obama when he tried to negotiate his budget ideas.. And Ryan used the term "My way or the highway" to describe Obama's attitude after he won his second term as president.

Sgt Tom Cunnally - I have a feeling they were all impossible to work with. "Compromise" has become a 4 letter word.

SGT Jeremiah B. - You are probably right but strong leaders can "Compromise" or get their opponents to "Compromise"...Then you have the question of "Respect".....and according to Bob Woodward's Book about Obama he claims the Repubs just didn't respect Obama and didn't exactly like him or his policies..

It's no secret that Republican politicians dont respect President Obama. Most of their base is blatantly disrespectful of him, and they, being the most vocal, are who the politicians pander to. It's the same way for Democrats that smear Republicans.

Obama's not going to hitch is wagon to any Dem candidate until there is a nominee. He can berate Republicans because they set themselves up to be slammed and it cost him nothing politically

Sgt Tom Cunnally - Not really. If you really want to address it, Obama doesn't have to do anything. The GOP presidential nominees are their own worst enemy and they are like pushing a blindfolded man down a staircase. They don't need help falling down all by themselves

Sgt Tom Cunnally - I think you also should consider that all of the Republican candidates are attacking President Obama's Presidency. I feel he has an obligation to defend his record. If that means he has to delve into the Republican debates and statements made by Republican candidates so be it. During campaigns almost everything is open season.
I do not believe it is proper for President Obama to get involved in the Democratic campaign intricacies, until after a Democratic nominee has been names.

Sgt Jay Jones - I disagree it makes Obama look small and petty with his cheap shots at the Repubs who have every right to criticize his policies that have been a disaster.... He is just too arrogant and thin skinned IMHO

I fail to see where his policies have been a disaster. Osama Bin Laden is dead. Stock market is an all time high. Unemployment is at 5.1%. More Americans have health insurance. We are not under Shahira law. Nobody is in FEMA camps. Everyone still has their guns. Has is under a dollar a gallon in some parts of the country. I also think it is Donald Trump who is too arrogant and thin skinned. I mean how many people has Trump gotten into arguments with besides Rosie O'Donnell?
