Should there be RallyPoint email accounts?

Having three (or four) email accounts is called 'mismanagement'?

What if you own/operate two or three businesses?

Not sure how this is 'missmanagement'. I am a county employee, so I have a county email. I also have a VA address (for my job), a gmail address (because I have an android phone), and my own private email I have had for years.. why would I need yet another??? I did have an AKO as well until we retirees were found to be too expensive to provide email to (but that's another story!)

I have multiple email addresses myself. Two Gmails that I use for professional and for personal interaction, my enterprise account for military related communications, and a yahoo account that I use to sign up for websites so all the spam and such is in one place and does not clutter up my nice inboxes.

Sounds like good management to me.

I too have multiple email addresses to deal with my multiple roles in life. I also have one that I give out when I'm on web-sites as a spamsuck.

An email address isn't going to get you a job. Your skills, education, and method you sell a potential employer will. You can also continue to have a .mil email address once you are out. All you need to do is have someone sponsor you.

A DD214 verifies your military employment, not your email or the web organizations your affiliated with.

I aware of what a DD 214 is. You need to read the conversation and not one post to get a full understanding of what's going on.

This leads me to believe that you think if you have an association with a website or email service it will better enable them to get a job or appear more credible/professional.

While I do agree that people with email's such as " [login to see] " is unprofessional and probably would not aid much in showing maturity on a resume, creating an email system linked to this site simply because it is for military veterans and it could list your name as " [login to see] " would not give veterans much of an advantage either. Yes, it appears more professional, I am not arguing that, but it does not make you credible or a professional. In fact, your DD214 may be a better representation of your professionalism and service than your email address (If you served under honorable conditions).

SSG Stephenson, I do see where you are coming from. And, I expressed my opinion on it. As have several others. What makes this a good site is that you can have varied opinions. As you have witnessed. If that is something that you would like, I think you could approach RP. It appears however that several (at least one) of the Member Managers has spoken and is not interested-does that mean it would/would not happen? No, that is his opinion. I will not even take the time to pout about you asking me to take the time to read the post and down voting. The post was not complicated. Take care

Thank you for the comment. No one is asking you to pout about anything that is posted on a social media site. I expressed the reason for the down vote and then got a valid response. So it worked. Sometimes you have to have thick skin. I'm just looking for a conversation to help benefit our veterans and current military members. I also know the question was simple. Part of conversations is disagreeing with each other. I have not taken anything personal nor will I but it seems that other Member/Manager have. I guess this is part of the new social media world.

SSG, I would tend to disagree. I think that you have taken it personally, case in point "thick skin". I offered an opinion that was contrary to what you were looking for. As someone who has on multiple occasions sat in the decision making seat for positions of hire, I will tell you that having an email address with an ignorant name on it would be ill advised, and I have seen them. I will also tell you that I think listing Rally Point on a resume will do very little for someone. When I look at a resume, I am looking for work experience. But again that is my opinion.

CPT Oddman, very well said! Can you provide some details on how someone can link their emails to one application? (I'm sure there are many out there that would like to know how and I'm not the best at explaining the technical part)

Thanks, SFC. Most people will either use Outlook (on PC, such as all DoD computers) or Mail (on a Mac) as their main mail program. Below I've included a few links on how to do link all your email accounts to Outlook. I used Microsoft's how to site. I'm not fan of MSFT but I can't find a more concise description.

Maybe I'm still not understanding where you are trying to go with this discussion. Are you implying that having an email address of [login to see] will give you a better chance of employment than say [login to see] ? If so, then I'm going to have to strongly disagree. While your choice of email "names" can be a negative, the domain is hardly considered in today's world. I'm really trying to understand your contention here,

I can see what you are getting at. I have been browsing around RP and have seen a lot of post stating that members use Rally Point on resume. Also in my line of work I deal with guard soldiers that are young and have email address that would turn me away from them if I was an employer. As a general question on RP I wanted to know what other vets and current military members thought about a standard [login to see] for members. Being on this site if I had my own business and came across a resume from an RP email I would look into a lot more. I have a few friends that own a business and will look at someone's Facebook to determine how people act outside of the work place. I know for sure Boston PD and the Mass State Police look at Facebook. I am also aware that anyone can log on to gmail and create a new account with a reasonable name. As a military member and a vet I think a standard RP email would work great. You have to be a validated member of a community not just a person off the street. That stands for a lot to me.

A RP email would not be useful. RP is not well known (If at all) in the civilian world. Hell, 90% of my battles in service don't know about RP. RP would appear as just another .com email service that would add no benefit to a Soldier than any other email service.
