Please do not comment if you are still serving in the Military in some capacity; a/o where potentially your job, livelihood, or position could be at risk.

I am against CRT as it makes all minorities as oppressed and white people as the oppressor. This is not a good way to bring about racial equality or justice.
I have been around a few years going back to the 50's and forward and I saw a lot of changes in how people treated each other and racial equality. We made tremendous advances since the civil war and the civil rights movements. Recent history has set this country back 50 years or more.
Was race an issue when I was in the service yes to some extent but again we are talking the 70's.

Absolutely not; we should not erase our history, good, bad, or ugly; it is our history.

CRT, no! That premise serves to divide. A better alternative is for the Army to teach race relations like in the past prior to the first Gulf War. We were given classes which included lectures from a professor from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He was a PHD in Sociology. So good was the lecture, I still remember his name from the 80’s while stationed in Germany . Dr Massey lecture titled “ You are now who you were when”, great lecture may even be online somewhere . Best explanation of human behavior based on internal and external influences. That’s what is needed not finger pointing . We brothers and sisters in arms have only one color. Back then it was OD green now likely it is camouflage. Race relations has no place in a foxhole. All we have is each other after our elected leaders and diplomats fail utterly in their jobs and send us to force their will onto another indigenous population. You won’t find those career failures beside us on a firing line.

No. It is reverse racism which is even worse and works against military preparedness in war by turning your troops against each other based on skin color.

How do you feel about teaching ACCURATE American history? Grade/age appropriate, history starting in grade school? I mean NOT glossing over the joys of first Thanksgivings, not glossing over the onset of slavery AND indentured servitude going back to the 1600’s, not glossing or completely ignoring black hangings/wiping out black towns, glossing over how difficult it was for women to stop being considered property & gaining the right to vote? All of that is the TRUTH about our shared American history? Teaching the TRUTH about our history, again age & grade appropriate, is NOT to indict ALL__________ (fill in the blank) race, ethnicity, gender, religion will eventually break through the stereotypes I was taught (age 73 now, do the math) so that the division we’re seeing now will have abated. I hope & pray for it every day.

My opinion is no, CRT should not be taught in the military or in leadership courses. This why I say this. It doesn’t matter what color you are, what nationality you are, or what gender you identify with, because we are all soldiers and we all have a mission to accomplish. This is how it must be in an environment where discipline is critical. Again, this is only my opinion. Happy New Year y’all.

First of all the discussion has a lot of flaws. Open discussion in this forum does not allow for full understanding of the intent, inflection or biases. Posts can be taken out of context. Many theories, for and opposed to CRT have a basis in fact. It is just like various religions which have been distorted to fit the proponents' views. More wars have been started on the basis of religion and religious beliefs than any other cause. Let us not use CRT as a basis for the next conflict within our society.

Sgt James Dare - Um... Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, the English Civil War...., but really any religion can stand in on this one.

Your statement that Catholics are not Christians is just plain wrong, seeing as they were the "original" Christians - you know, all that "throw them to the lions" stuff and the Holy Roman Empire.

Sgt James Dare - James: Well, let's set some ground rules. I think we can hopefully agree that Christians, strictly speaking, are people who follow the teachings of Christ, you know - Christ-ians. That really covers a lot of territory; Protestants (deriving from Martin Luther), Anglicans (the Church of England following from Henry III), Catholics (deriving from, as you note. Constantine) and everything in between and beyond including Lutherans. Calvinists, Mennonites, Amish, Quakers, Puritans, Baptists and Greek Orthodox. These religions range from the highly centralized to decentralized.

I've checked into Revelation 17 and the general consensus is that the referenced Babylon is in fact ROME, via the cross reference to the 7 hills of Rome. I would like to observe that the Holy Roman Empire did not exist at the time the Bible was laid out, so conflating the Roman Catholic Church with Babylon as laid out in Revelations is, in my mind, a bit of a stretch.

The Christian faith was adopted as the official religion of Rome by Constantine. Constantine did not create Christianity, but formalized its practices as the Roman Catholic Church. It was the Roman Catholic Church that gave rise (via schism) to many of the major Christian faiths we see around us today.

Neglecting the persecutions of Catholic Church, there are plentiful examples of other Christian faiths visiting violence upon non-believers. See Oliver Cromwell during the ENGLISH Civil War as one instance. Really, you don't have to look far.

Not sure where you're going or coming from with respect to Peter and Paul, so I'll just have to say "Huh?".

Well,
You're in the driver's seat: Do you even know what critical race theory is?
Can you point to one course in a military university that openly labels itself as a course that teaches CRT?
What harm does CRT cause, such that: it shouldn't be offered? Can you major in CRT?
Is a Divinity degree required to believe in God?
I have applied for over 100 jobs this year and there were no questions pertaining to my knowledge of CRT to get a job or if I claimed to understand it or confess in any way that I have been a exposed to it.

You're no longer an SM, you can openly state your opinion. I bet you wouldn't be stating it here is you were still on active duty....I regretfully disagree with everything you have said on everyone's post but i respect your opinion, like everyone else. The Military is trying to make it mandatory for NCO and Officer schools to make it mandatory to advance your career. That is utterly ridiculous and insane. I would openly state that on here , the DOD website , anywhere i damn well please. I care not for the idiot in the White House, he is incompetent and his Presidency a lame duck at that. Thank you for your service ,Petty Officer.
