Please do not comment if you are still serving in the Military in some capacity; a/o where potentially your job, livelihood, or position could be at risk.

Now I could approach this a bunch of different ways. So way is usually direct to the point, if it offends you grow. I was never really "Racist", Joe Black was my Gym Coach at Hubbard Jr High, Mostly Black, as was Plainfield HS. I always judged people by how they presented themselves, a Jerk is a Jerk no matter what Race. The ARMY made this even more Plain, I went from Jump School straight to Nam, 17years 6 months Old. In Combat you build a trust as a first thought, Race dont matter if he has your Back. Cordell was such a man, I spent approx 257 days in Bush with 1st Bn 173rd Bde. We were Wire Rats, Commo, we swapped around between the Line Co's or Bn and ran WD-1, TA-1, TA-312, each night to OP's , between Co's and BN. Operation Hump, OPORD 28-65, we had a Mail Call while waiting for truck's to take us to Flight Line, Cordell received a letter from his wife still on Okinawa, with a B&W Pic of his new Baby, he lite up and showed everybody. He was a very special Man, never went to town with us, He stayed in Camp a read his Bible. He was Killed on Nov 8th with C Company, I was with A Co, 1400 man NVA Regiment against about 400 Paratroopers. He was one of our Brothers, (there were 6 of us very close). Presidential Unit Citation, Big & Rich, 8th of November. We had Racism on both sides. PICT0919this is Willi, at Fort We gotcha, the rasist Blacks hated him, only one Problem, he was short in height but Solid Mucsle, he kicked Butt. Best part is he Became BN Race Relation NCO

Only if it is taught in context. Critical Race Theory is a Marxist political argument and is inimical to the idea that all men are created equal. It is designed to divide a population in order to make them easier to control.
Teach it - yes. Promote it as a viable theory within the context of our society - no.

The person has to be judged by their actions, not by the color of their skin. End of discussion.

As a Buck Sergeant, and an older white guy (I was a late-life entry), I was talking with a younger, black LT. He made a comment, and I made a lame joke by saying, "It's because I'm white, right?" Now, I said it with obvious sarcasm and humor behind it. He said, and not admonishingly, "We're all green in the Army."
While there is racism and bigotry in the military today, and when I was in about ten years ago, the military IS a cross section of society. But, for the most part, people are open-minded and don't have any real and major problems with those of other races. If a comment or action crosses a line, all it usually takes to bring awareness to the situation is saying, "Dude... that was a little messed up!" We interact and work things out.
I know people will tell me I'm way wrong, but all I've ever seen about CRT, it's putting down white people and telling us about all of the ways we are wrong and lecturing us like we're five-years-old. It drives a wedge between races, or tries to. I'll say it again: Interaction between races promotes understanding and corrects behaviors and comments like the military likes (or should again) to handle it... at the lowest level. Don't blow it up and take it to a level it doesn't need to go.

Yes, but it should not be unquestioned gospel where agreement is a pre-condition of passing the course of instruction.

Absolutely, NO! Teaching or pressuring or even supporting dividing people by race, color and creed has been fight since the beginning of the Republic for which were stand. Critical race theory reverts that principle back over 200 years. Our soldiers are elite and should act as such not coerced into belittling fellow soldiers by representing that one race, color or creed is superior it inferior. Honor and respect for all is a creed soldiers have historically been known for.

Knowing the past/history is one thing, teaching a Course that keeps hatred going is Bull Crap. A Few of us from Nam ended together when it Shut Down. We were Brothers, you mess with one, you made a very bad mistake. Well, The Prejudice of Black against Black that don't Tow the "Rev Sharpton, Rangel Line is something I experienced as a kid in Hubbard Jr High, Plainfield NJ. Willi was from Alabama, he hung with us just like in Nam, he had some friends amongst the Blacks but Most hated him as an "Uncle Tom". The four of us did just about everything together, best part was He became Battalion Race Relations NCO.
Back then they were doing "Race Sensitivity Training", 8 hours of a Black Panther calling us "Whitey's", Crackers and such, sure did a lot toward race Relations.
Just be yourself, some folks will like you, some wont, that's life, if someone is a jerk they are a Jerk no matter the Race. Move on from looking for things that could be made to look offensive, life's too short!
