"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

The saddest part is this is one of the units that used to not care what anyone thought of what they did or how they conducted business. They thought they were the biggest baddest MFers and they would fight anyone that said differently. Oh how times change.

You put in your time and earn it just like everyone else. Just another pointless situation to contribute to the new spoiled generation of soldiers.

Seems like a great plan to me destroy the moral while undermining the sacrafices and hardships of the greater percentage of the unit by taking something they earned, so the minority gets to look as if they made the same sacrafice. Cause thats all it will change is appearance. All while creating a rift between members of the command they will never overcome.

Is this what we have resorted to. Just because someone does not have a combat patch we should feel sensitive to their hurt feeling. Maybe we should look at the fact those that do have earned them and not be punished because that is exactly what you are doing to them.

This is riduculous. We wanted to see what our leaders were made of when I came. I never got there to combat but I looked at those that had come before me and used their knowledge to make ME and when I became a leader, my soldiers, better trained for what they may face. This disgusts me.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa! Thanks for the laugh; I really needed it. I never received a combat patch while in service, but I certainly would not be upset by or condemn anyone who had. That's a badge of distinction, and people in the military should strive to earn one of their own.

I don't think that is fair to the people that have earned them and the ones that have give it all in the name of that particular patch /unit. It is a way to show and remember those experiences and times and what you have done in a sense.

When I got to my unit everyone was just getting back from block leave after returning from Desert Storm and I looked up to those guys ,learned from them didn't feel left out because I didn't have one . Out of a platoon there were 3 of us that didn't have one .

Combat patches, merits, rank in general, are incentive to succeed and be active in our military. If E1's and E2's feel left out, tell them to get their shit straight and get promoted, and go fight overseas. Earn it. That's how those coming back from war got them.

I hope this isn't real. That commander needs to squash this fast.

Shouldn't the person giving this order remove their rank so that the lower ranks don't feel left out too? You know... since they're so concerned about *feelings* rather than accomplishments.

I did roughly a dozen training deployments to NTC and a tour in Korea within my 20 years of service. Had five wartime deployment notifications that turned out to be false alarms while in the 1st Cavalry Division. Needless to say I haven't been deployed to a war zone, no combat patch for me, but you know what? I still earned my MSM, a retirement and an honorable discharge with a fresh DD-214 in hand biznatches!

That goes beyond full retard. This is what happens when everyone gets a trophy... people stop seeing the value in earning something and think that everybody should have the same things.

This kind of BS is embarrassing and if true, a Senior NCO needs to get smacked across the face. Either he allowed a weak officer to do this, or God help us, he came up with this petty ass plan himself. #disgusting
