Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Remove patches and badges youve earned so as to not make those who dont have them feel left out??? When did the Army become a safe space?

I’m disappointed someone came up with this.
If we are so timid about “hurting someone’s precious feelings,” then just get rid of all medals/ribbons, special skill identifiers, and rank.

Patches are earned by being deployed and serving with unit overseas, recruits haven't earned them, same as rank insignias, do we remove sargents stripes because e1s and e2 don't have them?

Absolutely NOT!!! As a veteran of the US army and the National Guard afterward to fulfill my total 8 year obligation I served during Operation Desert Storm but my Guard unit was, unfortunately, not mobilized. To me, it was like I trained for 4 years actively 365 days a year then part time for about close to 3 more when the shit went down and didn't get to go and actually fight alongside my brothers and sisters in arms. That's like practicing to play a sport you love only to sit bench coz you got injured or something while your teammates are playing for the championship game. However, those that played, or in this case, fought, deserve to wear the patch just like those that actually played in the game deserve to wear those stickers you see on the helmets as in college football. Not everybody gets to have a sticker, but the team still played and perhaps won the game. You are still part of that team. You just don't get to wear a sticker on your helmet. And why should you? You didn't do anything to earn that sticker. I didn't earn a combat patch and yes, I would love to be able to wear one with pride just like many of my fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Some of them didn't make it back to wear their combat patch but were awarded them and buried with them posthumously. I could have been one of them too. I never forget that either. But that is a choice I would definitely have made knowing the risk to be able to go and fight alongside my battle buddies and to EARN the right to wear that combat patch dead or alive. Those whiney E1s and E2s should NEVER disrespect their fellow soldiers in their respective units by voicing their bullshit about how they "feel" left out. The soldier they are standing next to EARNED that patch and has every right to wear it with PRIDE and if those E1s and E2s don't respect that then get the hell out of the service. We don't want whiney bitches anyway. You'll just get in the way when it's time to fight the next time anyway!

If some a soldier whines that they don’t have a combat patch then put them on a plane and send them to Afghanistan and let them earn it

If they stick around for a while they'll get one, that is one earned not just giving.Just wait it will come if you stay, pussy go home.

Wow! That idea sucks. I spent two years in the National Guard during Desert Storm. I had one of those until I switched Navy. In the we didn't have patches but there is a Combat Action Ribbon. I didn't qualify for it though ,(I boo hoo) Thinking about it, why not remove all ribbons, medals, and insignia? While we're at it remove rank too?
Let's make everyone the same so no one feels left out. Throw pride, honor and distinction out the window.

I'm a new E2 if this is what it's come too that's bullshit to the fullest, my generation is a bunch of over entitled weak arses, the unit that got back from deployment has every right to wear that combat patch they earned it. Let the newbies have something to work towards. You can't demand anything in this world. You have to earn it. F### their feelings can we please stop becoming an over sensitive safe zone, and go back to the Army the world thinks we are?
