Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

The SM who deployed earned those patches and are entitled to wear their combat patch. There are various reasons why some SM do not have a combat; 1) just completed AIT, 2) Cannot be deployed OCONUS related to a communicable disease, EFMP issue, etc. What is this Army coming to.

If we do that, we should remove anything which might make others feel left out, medals, ribbons, badges, rank insignia, etc.

My Battalion was detached from our organic Brigade for my OEF tour. When we went to demob we were ordered not to wear our CIBs around the rest of the Brigade, so we wouldn't "offend" them. Not being able to wear recognized awards because of the feelings of others was part of the winding down road to my ETS.

Please don't offend those little crybabies. They might start crying for mommy and get their diapers in a wad. They may also get their thumb infected by forgetting what thumb was in their asshole and which one they were sucking.

This isn’t a participation badge. Those oldiers eraned those badges and some may have given the ultimate sacrifice. The badges serve as a sense of pride, and should serve as a goal to attain rather than a sense of feeling left out. If your young people can’t deal with someone wearing a badge they rightfully earned, how are they going to deal with combat when the time comes? Don’t remove the standard. Set it higher.

.... no, the Unit Patch is just that "The Unit Patch". All Insignias and Patches are earned, just as Rank is earned. Now if policy dictates that combat patches be removed, well, an Order is an Order, no matter how wrong it may be. Rank acquired in combat shouldn't be worn, because others didn't acquire said Rank in combat - unless "Stupid is, what Stupid does..." So in order to keep others from feeling bad about not having what others have earned, one should reassign each to noncombat Units in order to NOT hurt their delicate feelings.

Rule Changes Regarding Army Combat Patches
Most Army soldiers who have served in combat operations can wear a combat patch to signify their service.

Maybe we should just get rid of all rank and awards and patches as well? I sure do have hurt feelings that I have Stripes instead of Stars on my chest, but whatever, I'll just self-identify as a 4* General from now on.

What is this, Little kids soccer where everyone gets a trophy so no one has their feelings hurt - everybody wins? Don't tell me this is the way they're heading? I'd sure like to know who the 2% was on this matter. . . .

Should we remove all medals from the uniform to be sensitive to those who do not have any or just a few? I don't have a combat patch. I respect those who do. No matter if they came under fire or just served in a theater. The combat patch, like medals earned tell a little bit about the soldier wearing them.

Namby Pamby whiners and snot nosed short timers must have looked up from their coloring books to ask this question? What is wrong with a little envy now and then? Why not tell these insecure newbies they will get their opportunity to earn their Combat Patches in their carrers later on.

I did not serve in combat, but those who did deserve to wear their combat patches they earned that right. What in the world has happened to the Army? When I was in we were not issued feelings! If and when these E1 & E2's serve in combat they can then wear their patches. Although I pray they never have to.

The fact that this is even an issue is absolutely asinine. You feel left out? Volunteer for a MOB. You don't want to deploy? No patch for you. It's the Army, a force specifically made to defend our country by battling those that would attempt to steal from us, whether figuratively, emotionally, or literally. It's what we do. If your only concern is feeling 'left out' because you don't have the same thing that someone else has (because they actually DID something for it) then you should probably look at yourself and realize just how selfish you are.
The Army isn't a hand-out.
The grass might actually be greener, but that's because of the blood and tears shed by those who crossed the fence to get there.

No, the patch should stay. I was never deployed to a combat theater, and I never felt any less as a soldier. My goal was to stay read at all times to deploy, and I did until I had to retired.
