"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Come to think of it the only time the patches should not be worn is when attending particular courses that have all attendees in sterile uniforms, or on a particular mission.

What happened since I retired the services went soft??

its called politically correct progressive liberalism and its at a news media outlet near you and if you disagree with it then your a Nazi fascist. todays youth, in general, had fathers that failed in their responsibilities to beat the stupid out of their children.

SSG Perrotto - The so-called politically correct progressive liberalism is putting a stranglehold on the services. I can't imagine an Infantry Unit ever being effective, while being "politically Correct." The truth is so very Sad but still True. Combat Badges and Patches should always be on the uniform. If you don't like it, too bad. If you feel like it distinguishes one Soldier from another, yes it does! Go out and earn your own badge or patch if you want one to. Taking the patches away is a crime, just about as bad as removing the black beret from the Rangers. Don't even get me started down that road....

worst thing Shinseki ever did was give everyone a beret in order to be an army of one. and yes - I address that one by last name only - he doesn't deserve the honor of being called general - and ill leave it at that.

All of the "entitlement" issues facing the Army today has its roots in that asinine campaign that the individual was more important then the team concept - from the black beret being subverted to the CAB that non infantry service cried about because of the CIB to the very question in the OP's heading - and it is destroying our ability to create mentally, emotionally, physically resilient soldiers capable of fighting and winning our wars against an enemy that will not give two fucks about how stressed they are making our young soldiers feel.

This issue should be a non-starter. Are you kidding me.. This is the same group that thought the stress card was a great idea initial entry training.

Vietnam Era Vet... Drafted '72 served in US & Germany... This is probably the Dumbest question I have ever heard during or since I was in the Army! I HOPE the Army hasn't sunk so low as to accommodate "the Feelings" of E1 & E2s... LET THEM "LEARN & EARN" A LITTLE RESPECT! "HUAH!"

The because I'm here I should get a trophy for participating attitude is a detriment to the attitude of today.

Nothing to do with feelings. Only the Army feels a need to wank about it. Everyone else just wears their uniform and is aware of what they did. If you need a special patch to remind people, you're a snowflake.

You'll get one when you deploy, so they'll have to be patient and wait for it. Removing them just because someone feels left out is ridiculous. People that have them earned them, so they have the right to wear it regardless of who feels left out.
